I think you're going to love it here.  A good friend of mine grew up in California, moved here when he was about 13, then moved back about 7-8 years ago when he was about 26 years old (he settled down in Long Beach), and he sorely misses Minnesota for a few different reasons.  There are two things in particular he misses:  the weather (and general climate), and the food.  Regarding the food, he feels that Minnesota has a better variety and better choices both at the grocery stores and at restaurants.

In regards to the weather, he misses the larger differences between the seasons and he misses the fact that we generally have more moisture in the air over here.

I've never lived anywhere else, so I can only go by what he says.

Thank you man, that warmed my heart with that welcome. =) Californians know of heat. like up to 110 Degrees F. So 80 degree weather and snow (it never snows in modesto..EVER) will be nice. i Love the cold weather, and its a plus for keeping my computers over all temp down!

110 is nothing. Try 115 with 80 percent humitdity.

115°F with 80% humidity in Arizona?  I didn't know that this is possible.

According to the Dew Point Calculator below, 115°F with 80% humidity would make for a dew point of 107°F which would be significantly more than "tropical".  This means that any object that is at 107°F or cooler would have moisture instantly condense onto it.  Not only that, but I doubt any human could survive such conditions for more than a few minutes without a major heatstroke (not to mention animals and other creatures).

http://www.dpcalc.org/

I'm looking at the 10-day forecast for Yuma Arizona, and the hottest part of the forecast is today:  103°F with the humidity getting up to 31% (but 31% is the average humidity for the entire day).  According to the dew point calculator, this would result in a maximum dew point that day of 66°F.  However, the hourly forecast says the maximum temperature will be 101°F with the humidity at 22% when it reaches 101°F.  This will result in a dew point of only 55°F.  That sounds like the typical "dry heat" that Arizona is known for.  Not bad.

So I think 115°F with 80% humidity in Arizona is impossible.  After all, it's a desert.

But it's a dry heat.  In the middle of the day when it's 120°F, isn't the humidity usually at about 10-20%?

Interesting conversation/hijack.

FYI - the highest dew point ever recorded in the US was 90°. Located in, wait for it.....Wisconsin. Highest in the world, Saudi Arabia at 95° with a theoretical heat index of 176° skull.gif

I'd believe it. Wisconsin is absolute torture during the summer at times. Feels like your in a sauna 24/7.
