I think with another fan and some tinkering with intake/exhaust I could get it below 70C. Thank you so much. I'm not sure what happened, there was actually a ton of paste on the card when I got the cooler off. Maybe too much? Can you have too much? Regardless, I am very happy with these temps.
Thanks everyone for the help. I'll be posting some 5760x1080 benchmarks when I get my other monitor in later next week. biggrin.gif
Yeah, too much paste is just as bad as too little as it just ends up hindering heat transfer. Glad to hear your card is fine now.thumb.gif

Thread Starter
Just an update... really for anyone who might be looking at this thread in the future...

I reapplied thermal paste on both my graphics cards and installed a side, intake fan on my NZXT Phantom (it took a lot of tweaking with the cords in order to get it to fit) and now my temps are 60C at their highest. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

what paste did you apply, that is a mssive drop in temps? What is your ambient temps btw?

I have a similar setup, SLI'd Galaxy 670 4gb SC's, my temps are good. In gaming depending on the game, upper 50's or lower 60's. Benching them does take the top card closer to 70. I have a HAF 932 with 4 120mm Noc's blowing right on them though. Although not extremely loud given the fact that it's an SLI setup, I do wish it was quieter for the sole reason that at night because of my sleeping infant and toddler, I have to play with the volume very low (can't use a headset either since I won't hear them if they wake up), so I've decided to do "the mod" with a pair of Antec kuhler 620's.

Unless you kids are in the same room with you, you should get a babymonitor that has lights along with the usual speaker. Thats what I use. That way I can game with my headphones and when the little tyke cries I can see the lights go up and down. I leave the volume on the monitor off. as long as I can see the lights Im good smile.gif
Also, Im going to throw my numbers in hear for your guys opinion... I also have 2 670's. evga refrence to be exact. I changed out the thermal past to mx-4 and installed backplates and high flow brackets. I do have a good overclock on both 1200 on core and +400 on memory. My temps are around 75 underload for the top and 74 for the bottom. I run a corsair 600t With out the side fan.
