I can begin to tell how that is not always the case more fans can cause turbulence and worse temperatures. a good case like haf 939 is good example is uesed a few big fans to make for great air flow and temps, instead of 10 million 120mm fans.

1) Antec P280. Oddly appealing, cheapest, quite possibly the quietest.
2) Xigmatek Elysium. Big and beautiful--love the fans and the window. Haven't found a weight on it, but it must be quite heavy, at that size, which is a huge plus. The silver version is ugly, so I'd go with the black--if there was a white one, I wouldn't be sitting here debating with myself.
3) Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition. In case I find a hundred-dollar bill in my sofa--a girl can dream, right?
I looked at the Aerocool Strike-X Advance (lovetobuild recommended its black-and-red sibling), but alas, it's not available in the US, and shipping from overseas would be horrendously expensive.

the antec is alright, although at that price level id rather just grab a fractal r4. for the level 10, if you are prepared to drop that much money on a case, you should gun for something like an ft02

lighter does mean easier to knock over, but its not really of any consequence unless you like to beat on your computer like i did when i was a kid. however, lighter means the panels are thinner and thus weaker at blocking noise and have a greater tendency to flex and allow vibrations. i doubt youd have any problems with the p280 though

The smaller CM Storm Scout is a lot cheaper.

so was the 2500k, but that didnt stop many people, right? tongue.gif

itll be hard to find a balance between quiet case and industrial case. most quiet cases favour a sleek, smooth appearance whereas industrial cases are often high air-flow, heaps of mesh panels and, at times, poor dust filtering

That Silverstone Fortress is nice, but unfortunately not compelling like the Level 10 GT--I blame a lack of shinies.

Anyone have any experience with the Antec Twelve Hundred? It's got a very nice look to it, and apparently the dust filtration on it is quite good too. Plus it has the 2.5" slot for the SSD.

I built a rig in the 1200, it was a very painful experience. It's puny and has no redeeming features. The only worthwhile Antec cases are the P280 and 1100. The 1100 looks great for the price.

Cheaptrick's recommendation of the Storm Scout got me looking at some of the other Storm series cases, and I think I've found my winner in the Storm Stryker! It's got the white, the dust filters, the weight, and it doesn't need an adapter for my 2.5" SSD.

Thanks a lot, guys--very helpful info.
