Should I purchase a soundcard?

Hi everyone, I have a P8Z77-V Pro motherboard which claims to output 24/192, in true BD.

My question is, would this be only through the Optical/Coaxial Out? and if so, how much of a gain would I get from an internal soundcard such as the Asus Xonar Phoebus? 7.1 analog input is a must for me, as I have recently purchased a Razer Tiamat Elite 7.1 headset.

Now before I get any messages saying that the tiamat is a bad headset, I am well aware that there are better ones out there in 2.1 and with virtual surround can sound pretty good, but for me I notice a huge difference between them. My main music headset which is a sennheiser 360 G4ME, which I have setup to the speaker input on the tiamats so I can switch at any time with a push of a button.

Well it'll output that bit depth and sample rate, but the question here isn't really about what it can do.

The question is really whether or not you want to opt in for better overall sound quality. Without a sound card, you're probably going to be hearing a lot of noise come through the headset. With a discrete sound card, you'll likely drop the noise floor, increase the overall sound quality, and also get better positioning between channels.

Alright, well to me, price doesn't really matter, I am a Full Time employed 22 year old who makes over 25 an hour and still lives with relatives.

My next question is what are my best options?

My price point is about 100-300$ or more if there is better options.

Coming from my Xonar to onboard on my Maximus V Formula is definitely noticeable and it's not for the better. Much preferred my Xonar but it's not compatible with this board.

Going to have to sell and grab the PCI-E version I think!
