my experience with the OCZ customer service and their ZT750 - seeking opinions

I just want to preface that I've had no experience with OCZ products leading up to this. Nor do I consider myself informed by any means on PSU's.

Recently had 2 buddies each picked up the OCZ ZT750 from Microcenter for $106 with a $20 mail in rebate.

Ironically my PSU died 2 weeks later and after hearing them boast about the modular cables I googled a few reviews and decided I'd pick one up.

The PSU lasted 3 days and then I had to RMA it. Roughly 2 weeks go by and I send out an email inquiring about how long until I receive my replacement. Having 1 PC down because I had to borrow the PSU from it was a pain in the ass so of course the sooner the better. Anyways customer support says "a couple of weeks" and offers me the PCPower and Cooling PPCS760 as some sort of comparable replacement. It doesn't have modular cables and has been discontinued. Naturally I reject that proposal and in turn am offered the OCZ-Z1000M, which has has partially modular cables and is also discontinued. Well I reject that to and insist on waiting since I would like to get what it is that I originally paid for.

Another 2 weeks go by and I send another email asking for an update. Apparently they could be restocked by the 1st or 2nd week of September but they can't confirm that. So here I am over a month later and I still don't have the damn product I paid for only to just now get an email from another customer support agent. They just wanted to email me to let me know that my RMA is on back order and that they can offer me the OCZ-Z1000M......yeah the one they already tried to give me.

So anyways IMO this is pretty much bull**** and I've expressed my displeasure appropriately.

I was wondering what you all think about this? I personally have no intention of ever buying an OCZ product again.

wow. I've just finished a pretty crap rma process myself so I know how frustrated you must be. so much for their powerswap warranty service huh? my brother has the ZT 750 and it's been fine so far. well, best of luck to you. as for a psu, if you want to get something else but stick to a 750w fully modular, I would recommend this. it's currently selling for $128.
