New PC build won't Boot

Thread Starter
I just finished upgrading my PC with a new motherboard, cpu and graphics card. Specs for each are Intel Celeron 2,93 GHz, MSI 915P Combo FR and X800 GT. + my 450 W Q-TEC PSU, 250 Gig SATA drive, DVD burner and floppy.

The build went ok, and I got it to post, but it won't boot. No matter what I the screen goes dark, orange light comes on and comp restarts. Even when I try to boot into safe-mode. I though maybe the new graphics card wasn't getting enough power and all, so I swapped it with a 9200se, and still it died.

I'm trying to use my old operating system, should I reinstall windows? Other than a fresh windows install I have no idea what I could try, so advice is appreciated!

perhaps the power supply is not working correctly? Do you have a spare you could try using.

I'll reinstall windows now then.

My next strongest PSU is 350W which is the absolute minimum required just to run the motherboard and processor. The graphics card doesn't use a separate power connecter so I can't run it off a separate psu unfortunately. The PSU worked fine with my previous system which was a 9800pro + 2.4 GHz processor and nearly identical motherboard, but I'll try it if all else fails.

Test your 450W PSU with your old PC to see if it works.
