Now if it(FX-8350) could do 5ghz under an air cooler like Hyper 212 EVO with an ambient of 25c, I might just be happy.
So what are you doing with your machine that you would need more power than OC'd 955 can provide ? Just out of curiosity.
I myself just got 965 yesterday for a tight budget gaming build for a friend. Was able to pull off a build for about 285 Eur while Intel version would have been about 400. It uses some parts I had left over from my own upgrades like Sapphire 5770 card and couple of stick of 4 GB RAM and a case. For a gaming, it seems, the 4 cores will be sufficient for years to come. Yeah, its 3 years old but its not like AMD has done major improvements so far so its still a same memory controller, PCIe 2.0, etc. So in a nutshell feature set is still the same and the gap in performance does not seem that great either unless you are specifically operating loads that benefit from 8 integer threads (floating point wise - for example, various physics simulations in games - the new "8 cores" are still only 4).
