Artisan Shiden(-Kai) with an Avago A9500?

Thread Starter
I've got a couple mice with the Avago 9500 sensor (Sensei + G700) that I'd like to try with a new surface. I'm considering trying an Artisan hard pad--either the Shiden or the Shiden-kai.

Has anyone tried this combination? Shiden or Shiden-kai with a 9500 sensor?

Though, I'm mostly just looking for a high quality and large hard pad--I suppose I'm still open to other recommendations

My G500 tracks well on Shiden-kai. Not sure of perfect control speed.

What DPI do u usually use?

I've been using a 1600dpi, medium sensitivity (about 36cm for a 360). Though I'd be interested in a pad that worked well for higher sensitivity as well. What are you using with your setup?

i use 1800dpi on G500, and i don't play FPS. With higher sensitivity (3600dpi or above), Shiden-kai has noticeably less jitter than QcK or Hien, but i'm not sure how it compares with other pads like PureTrak Talent.

Enotus says my max speed is around 1.5m/s (about 60IPS), but I certainly have trouble moving my mouse quickly enough on a small-size shiden kai............

I can't speak for the artisan pads, but my g500 is doing fine on a 9HD.

I'll upload an accel test in a few minutes.

EDIT : Accel test here :

Give or take 5% on the accel test as a margin of error.

I have the Shidenkai - DeathAdder 3.5G combination.

The Shidenkai is not really a hard pad. It is a cloth with a glass coating.

I don't think it would be a good pad for a high sensitivity player. It is good for me as I play with a medium sensitivity. I also find it better to use the mouse at 500HZ as it is too sensitive on the pad -- at least with the DA 3.5G.

It is nice that it is water melon colored because that decreases the lift off distance and there is only a small logo on the lower right. Any pattern variation on pads changes the tracking performance. That is why there shouldn't be any graphics or logos on mouse pads.

If you spill something on the pad it will soak into the foam. I only had a small amount of water get on the pad and it dried out after a while.

The bottom of the pad and the table need to be clean for it to stick well. You also have to clean the pad and the bottom of the mouse to keep its glide. It does seem after awhile you will need to change the mouse feet to maintain the best glide.

The medium (mid) version is pretty solid with a slight give with hard pressure. It isn't comfortable to rest your hand on it because of that. Doesn't feel much different than resting your hand on the table.

I don't know if the pad changes the maximum tracking performance because I added clear tape that has been tinted with p. marker. That makes the lift off of the DA 3.5G less than one CD! The tape doesn't seem to have reduced the tracking from what I can tell / remember. I can't test it because Enotus doesn't read the DPI now.
