Is this the type of wire I need to for sleeving my PSU? (European 18AWG) - Page 2

You can check on rs. I looked on the German website, and they list wires with the AWG measurement as well. I am not sure this is true also for the finnish website, but you can give it a look. In any case they have a huge choice.

Here's the link

I checked again on rs. If you select one of the products, then it will be written also the size with the AWG specification.
See this one for example.

So it looks like UL1007 awg 18 is 2.01mm in diameter. This matches Nils instructions for the MDPC crimping tool (he suggests wires with an outer diameter between 1.9mm and 2.2mm).

I had a look at RS but isn't UL1007 18 AWG supposed to be 1,024mm?

Both of these links list it as 1,024mm

I guess it refers to the outer diameter without the insulation.

From the wikipedia link, the formula for the diameter is A = pi/2 * d^2, where A is the cross-sectional area.
If I invert it using the value of A in the link I posted, it follows d = sqrt(4*A /pi) = sqrt(4*0.81/pi)=1.0155mm, so it seems right considering approximation errors.

But I am not an expert on wires, so I would appreciate if anybody else can confirm this.
