680i question - Page 2

Well right now I don't know if I will go SLI and do some overclocking.

I'm more concerned about future cpu upgrade. I just don't know about the performance increase offered by a 1333Mgz fsb over the 1066Mgz fsb.

If it's not worth it I'll just settle for a 965/975 chipset instead.

When do you plan to buy?

The point it... there is only one board right now, and not from a manufacturer that's known for motherboards.

I'd save it all up untill you have enough money to buy it all in one blow. Nothing more annoying to buy the motherboard now, and by January you find out that another board blows this one away.

Yea that made it hard for me to buy mine, but it's getting good reviews so i'm happy I did. I didn't even know eVGA made motherboards at all until a week ago.

Its a nice board, and it looks awesome.

All three boards can handle nearly a 2000mhz FSB overclocked. Those speeds are just conservative numbers.

What he means is a stock 1333 MHz FSB, for future CPUs that run at that FSP at stock.

What would happen if you put a 1333 stock CPU in a system which states max 1066? No boot? Or boot in 1066 mode?

Not sure... depends if it supports the architecture. If identical architecture, then it'll boot at 1066.

In the past, I was able to boot a 800MHz FSB Northwood in a 533MHz board. Ran just fine. (could not overclock... it was a Sony with an locked BIOS. Just did this to test the CPU... thought it was dead...)

Can't get mine past 450bus (1799FSB) right now, but like I said I think the board is defective or its a bios issue. Called Evga to see if they had a bios I could reflash it with to see if the ethernet ports came back, and the guy said "I don't even think we have a bios for that board yet!" So I'm just going to rma it with ncix and get another one. If anyone is interested my brief OCing adventures with this board are on this thread http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...ard-today.html
