Crossfire 8x / 8x vs 16x / 16x with 7970 + other noob questions... please help :(

Thread Starter
I have a lot of questions to ask (kinda noob at a lot of this stuff and captain google doesn't want to be cooperative) so there is a lot of questions.

question 1: So ... currently using gigabyte z77x - ud5h board. Will it hinder the performance of 2 7970s in crossfire or do 8x and 16x not make too much of a difference?

side note: decided to just keep the voltage locked god damn asus 7970 direct cuii, should be here on monday (memoryexpress has bad shipping times for standard shipping incase anyone was wondering... 1 week to process the order and then another week and a half for shipping in my experience and parts for my second rig are still "new order" after a week due to their big sale thing a.k.a. not even processed) -_- now looking for a second 7970 to xfire with....too much hastle to RMA

Question 2: If 16x is that important do I absolutely need to grab a ROG board to do hotwire-ing without voiding the warranty or will other boards do voltage monitoring without solders.

Question 3: will the CM 1000w Silent pro choke under two 7970s with 3 hdds 1 ssd 8 fans and overclocked cpu / ram? (adding water cooling very soon as well)

Question 4: will the 3770k bottleneck the cards or hinder performance of the 2 cards?

Question 5: If xfiring would having a second asus card be better than a card from another manufacturer due to he cards both being asus cards or would that screw with the xfire since Asus has a custom pcb?

Much Appreciated,
Henry

Questions 1 - 4 = no.

5 - You can cfx any same gen card but I would recommend you stick to cards with the same pcb feeding. This is very important if you plan to watercool the cards in the future.
