What is the difference between 9-9-9 and 9-9-9-24 for timing?

I am buying a new motherboard since one of my PCI-E slots decided to crap out on me.. and it comes with free 8 GBs of RAM. I want to mix the two together.. I already have 8 but it's in 9-9-9 and doesn't show the 24 at the end like the other pair does (they are both GSKILL and run at 1600).. Are they the same timing? or does that 24 throw everything off?
