Do you buy first generation cards or wait for refreshes?

Thread Starter
I'm interested more in the refresh than the first card of each new gen.

I'd rather buy a refresh of Fermi (580) than buy the 480. I'd rather buy the refresh of Kepler (780) than buy the 680.

How do you guys buy your cards?

I bought a 480, then a 580, then a 680. I'll probably end up buying a 780 as well. Lol. Refreshed cards don't really mind me too much. To me, it's a completely new card and I always like having the up to date stuff. tongue.gif I know it's bad, but hey, that's what I do.

Refresh and revision are best, it's about impulse control. Wait for refresh though and next thing you know the new gen is around the corner.

It sounds like you sell off the old ones so it's not that bad of a loss as the old ones don't depreciate as much since they're only a year old when you sell them.

I don't have anyone to sell it to so if I get into the habit of buying every release then I just waste money sad-smiley-002.gif

Must be awesome getting a new card every time though smile.gif

I tend to trade or sell my current card as soon as newer cards come out. I'd rather get rid of a card for more money than keep it until it becomes useless and/or worthless. I have a pretty bad and constant upgrade itch though. If it isn't the computer itself then its the audio/video/or accessories.

I had a Radeon 4670, 560ti 448 Classified Ultra, and now SLI 670 FTW's. I'll probably buy a pair of 770/780s if the jump in performance is that great.

I have more money than cents.

When it comes to AMD, i always buy the first cards before the revisions come. They usually end up being the best cards for me.
