Were you properly grounded? It sounds like you fried your Mobo, or the PSU took a dump. I would try a new PSU first. I'm not an OCN veteran, but I have been working on computers since the age of 10. I ruined 2 of my first 5 builds from working on carpet. I've come a long way since Windows 98...

thanks, I haven't had any issues like this before, but I also haven't ever used such a cheap power supply before. I've used OCZ,Cooler Master and Antec and they were all excellent, well the OCZ was good not excellent. Thanks again.

It was only the cooler that I had leftover from my scorpious build not the cpu itself. Since I had it I knew it would cool much better than the stock sempron cooler which is all aluminum and the fx cooler is copper/alum and much beefier. The carpet/static thing is a good point as I'm an old schooler that just keeps my hand on the case to ground myself. Thanks for ur post.

No offense to you or anything but you never put in a Trash PSU in any Rig evne lower end systems. A cheapie PSU can destroy your setup.

that PSU prolly pulls a max of 200 watts if that. Logisys makes absolutely junk products. That PSU will get no where near 575 watts

You have to be careful of what PSU you toss in any system. jsut because it has a brand name behind it does not make it good. Antec, OCZ and Cooler Master all make Fantastic PSU's and junk/Mediocre sets also. ITs always good to ask

I bought a cheap power supply once, it wouldn't boot.

Then I accidentally changed the power from 230V(240?), to 110V. It went BOOM and fried my graphics card. Still got the GPU replaced though with my magical charm!!!

Right some of this you would of already done, but process of elimination and all that.

Remove CMOS battery and power cord, set CMOS jumper to "clear" and leave for 10 mins. Also press power button 3-4 times, this will discharge the capacitors.
Check theres been no overspill of TIM

If that doesn't work you can narrow the problem components down to CPU (you mentioned the HS fitting was "tight", you might of cracked the CPU die), a dead PSU, or dead mobo. I doubt theres been any further damage beyond one component which has died as such cases are rare.
