Recommend me my PSU

Thread Starter
I know there is many threads about this out there and this will be my first thread here, but I am getting really confused. I have used almost every PSU calculator that I can find and they all are different. They range for 600-900+. So I have decided to come here and hopefully get some help. Thanks in advance.

650w. The Capstone 750-M is less than the 650-M right now though, so whynot.

Capstone 650M $100
Capstone 750M $88

The power consumption answer you are looking for, You'll never pull over 600w from the PSU on that system, even with F@H (folding at home, very power hungry)

A GTX680 SLI with an OCed IB setup can be powered on a quality 650w. What's your budget, and where are you buying from? If possible, post the link to the site you are buying from.

Nice build!

To power this with two 680s in it, all that would be needed is a quality 550-650W power supply:

http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-680-sli-review/4

Their test system pulled 473W with two GTX 680s in SLi under full load.  The CPU was idling during the test, so we can add about 200W just for good measure making for a power draw of 673W being pulled from the wall outlet.  So if the PSU were 85% efficient and pulling 673W from the wall outlet, then that would mean the system would be pulling no more than about 575W from the PSU.  However, I added 200W which is a bit on the ridiculous side, even when overclocking the 3770K.  ;)  A much more realistic figure is about 150W which changes 575W to about 525W.  The only way we'd see a power draw this high is if the CPU and the video cards are under full load simultaneously, but that doesn't happen very often (if ever).

So yeah, a quality PSU that has a capacity of 550-650W is enough.

Well considering that I was looking at 1000+ power supplies, my range is around 200USD. I would be buying from any site that gives me a good deal. Will be using Pcpartpicker.com

Always good deals out there, buying from the USA? Modular preferred? Going for high quality? (like the above Capstone)

I would like it to be fully modular and high quality and quiet and yes I will be buying from the USA. I have been looking at Corsair's products because of the quality of their products.

I find full modular only worth it if you plan on sleeving everything, as the 24 pin & CPU 8 pin will always be connected. Corsair's PSU's are manufactured by Seasonic, CWT, and Flextronics (AX1200, AX1200i)

If you want to spend more for full modularity, Xcilo Stablepower Gold 750W is a also a good high-end unit which is base on the same Enhanced unit as the Silverstone Strider Gold unit for $125 shipped. IMO, I would go with the Capstone 750w for $88. It's an excellent unit at a very great value. The cabled that are fixed onto the PSU are the 24-pin and the two 4+4pin CPU connector. Only one cable is going to be left unuse with your setup, which you could easily hide it behind the mobo tray.
