Should I get a sound card if I am using the realtek 898 chipset?? - Page 3

Well I can tell you that I have onboard audio that even my super old Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum Ex from 2002 sounds much better. I get more bass, hear objects further away clearer and it doesn't sound so muffled. A good pair of headphones is just as important as a soundcard too. I use Beyer 770 Pro. If I use my iPhone headphones, I can't tell the difference.

With audio, its one of those things that specs alone really doesn't tell the full story. Go and grab a Xonar DX 7.1 PCI-E and you will not regret doing so, I promise you that. There is no onboard audio in the world that can hold a candle to a good soundcard, the Xonar cards are literally THE best audio cards you can own for gaming and if you are a audiophile alike. HERE is a excellent Xonar DX review that compares Creative and onboard audio cards as well. Its a excellent article that does a great job of showing what can't be put into words.
