Im probably going to quit gaming in a year or two, so i dont really plan on keeping my pc after that ammount of time so i just want the best performance for the next couple of years.
and from what i've seen the 670 out-performes the 7950, so shouldnt i just go with that?
By the way, if i do decide to go 670 what brand should i go with? at the store im going to purchase from they only have a few brands; Asus Direct CU II, Gigabyte, Gigabyte Windforce OC, and an EVGA version.

You should stuck with the GTX670 even with the 2Gb version, cuz you are going to play it at maximum 1920*1080, so extra memory is not absolutly needed... Even so the Nvidia drivers are not matured yet as the 7000 Series from ATI, and as I know from the past few years of Nvidia, they are gonna boost them up gradually!

About the VGA Brand, I'm an EVGA fan, but I guess the ASUS Direct CU II have a better cooler than the others (Windforce OC included!), so stick with it!

The gigabyte Windforce OC has 3 fans, yet the asus has 2 fans, so i thought the windforce OC would be cooler.. but i heard that the Asus version has been overclocked more so ill probably go with that, i just want to see some more opinions smile.gif

So you think i should choose that over the Asus Direct CU II?

OP the best value for your money is in getting a HD 7950. clock for clock HD 7950 is 3- 5% slower than HD 7970. get a HD 7950 card with a good custom cooler like the HIS Iceq or Sapphire vapor-x . these cards even at stock perform close to a HD 7970. just max out the power options slider to get HD 7950 (925 Mhz) performance. Also these cards do 1050 - 1100 Mhz on stock voltage and 1150 - 1200 Mhz with a bit of voltage tweaking

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-304-SP

at 250 - 260 bucks these cards cost atleast 70 - 80 bucks lesser than HD 7970 while performing very close to it. here you can see what the HD 7950 at 1.2 Ghz performs like

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/08/23/galaxy_gtx_660_ti_gc_oc_vs_670_hd_7950/2

HD 7950 (1100 Mhz) matches a HD 7970 Ghz (1050 Mhz)

I've never used or heard the Direct CU II cooler so I can't comment weather the wind force cooler is better, IMO I thing the windforce cooler looks better, both are prolly fairly even... but I can say the windforce is a good cooler.

now im debating between the Gigabyte Windforce 7970 and the Gigabyte Windforce 670 (the 670 is 50 dollars cheaper)

originally i WAS going to overclock, but then i heard of alot of problems that come along with overclocking.. so i dont know if i should do it.
my only debate is if i should overclock or not, if i decide i will ill go with the 7970, if i decide not to ill go with the 670..

its just that, i dont want to have any problems in the future if ill overclock

Unreal Engine 4, CryEngine 3.0, and Frostbite 3.0 are already going to stress them, now add on what comes after that towards the end of that 4 year mark....

No, the reality of it is the 3GB an 384-Bit memory architecture of the 7000 series will have a much longer lifespan in relation to games coming down the pipe in the next 18 months to 36 months. As bandwidth requirements on the hardware are pushed up further.

Even in current generation titles, modded Skyrim as an example, we are already stressing a 2GB 256bit architecture.

Is that why we dont see gtx285 with 512bit memory bus maxing out anything today? Or this is why a gtx580 with a 384bit memory bus outperforms a gtx680? Im so confused!!!
