Question: h60 or h100?

Thread Starter
Hey guys just a quick question planning on OCing my 3770k to 4.3ghz and was having a hard time deciding between the h60 in push/pull or an h100 in push. I know ivy runs hot already but I'm wondering if an h60 will be enough for that tiny overclock, I may increase that in the future but not sure yet.

If any one has performance results from similar situations with either cooler that would be great.

Never opposed to overkill with the h100 was just trying to save a bit of money if possible :-)

The H60 will perform well enough to hit 4.2 and a little beyond. When you hit the H100 price level you might as well do a full custom loop kit IMO.

I was planning on a nice custom loop for cpu and both gpu's but my car broke down so I'm having to us the loop funds on that :-(

If I'm being honest with myself I'm probably to lazy to do a full loop once I get the funds again especially if I have a closed loop already

Don't get the H100. Go with either a custom loop for CPU only, or with a noctua solution. The NH-U12P SE2 is very good and quiet. The H100 have high failure rates. I am talking from experience here.

I actually just upgraded today from a H60 to H100. Honestly not a large difference in temps. I have a 3770k with asrock z77 extreme6. I was running H60 then added a fan to do push pull. Worked fine but I wanted a higher OC. I would say u will be fine At 4.3 for a "normal" use pc. I'm now at 4.5ghz with the H100. I quit at that as it required a Lot more voltage and my temps at 4.5 were about as high as I want. I can post tomorrow the temps I ran with The H60 if u want me too. I have them in my office.

H100 has been great for me, I have not used the H60. My 3570k has been at 4.6 since it was new. I fully recommend it if you do not want to deal with putting together your own water loop.

Ive seen alot of people complain that the H series cooler kinda suck. Now the the 2 beast air cooling setups.... if you have the clearance over the ram and inside the case. Is the Noctua 6 Dual Heatpipe with 140mm/120mm Dual SSO Bearing Fans CPU Cooler NH-D14 or the THERMALRIGHT SILVER ARROW DUAL14CM ROUND FAN HEATSINK. Both will do better then any of those wannabe watercoolers.

So much venom towards th H series. To this day, I still dont know why.

Its an a valid option, just as air and full WC. Corsair's CS is outstanding, should your unit leak... you will be supported, something you wont get from a custom WC setup.

So, there are pros and cons for all setups.

Ive had a H100 strapped to my OCed Q9650 for ages and have had no issues around performance. Next week, it will be migrating to my 3930k build and we'll see how it goes.

If it doesnt work out, then Ill look at other options... thats life and it wont be because Corsair suck. rolleyes.gif

@ Arknoodle, given the choice between a H60 and H100, I suggest the H100.

Well I've decided on the h60 and a slight reduction on my overclock as a temp setup till I can build my funds back up for a custom loop thanks for the input everyone it was much appreciated :-) look out for my case mod/custom loop build log in the next month or two it will be my first time Modding and I'm huge on clean aesthetics so I've got some very good plans in the works!
