Him RAM isn't compatible with 1155 either. Again, get a new pre-flashed BIOS chip. Its the most cost effective solution.

Any DDR3 should work with LGA 1155. It's still dual channel. If I was the OP i'd pick up a cheap LGA 1155 board Core i3 processor and 4GB of DDR3. LGA 775 has been phased out for a long time and he may as well upgrade before he runs into another issue. Those NVIDIA chipsets where nightmares anyways!

Right now 4GB of DDR3 can be had for as little as $17.

Would they sell a pre flashed bios chip for a discontinued motherboard tho?

You'd have to contact them to see. It's possible but I doubt it. EVGA doesn't even make NVIDIA chipset boards anymore.

Wait..have you unplugged it and pulled the battery for 35-40seconds yet?
One does not simply give up if a jumper CMOS reset fails the first time..

Replacement BIOS chip is $20 shipped on epay, scroll down the 780i listings above.
RAM is DDR2, compatible with most newer motherboards.
OTOH DDR3 is inexpensive compared to DDR2,

None of the G41/G31 motherboards support 7.1 sound.

Ebay looks like your best choice, either for BIOS chip (contact EVGA first, sometimes you get lucky) or used motherboard.

For upgrade : If you have access to a MicroCenter store (they do not offer their best deals shipped) check for CPU/motherboard combo deals.
