Please tell me this post was you trying to troll? Because I've never wanted to rage so hard in my life right now....
First of all, Max Payne was a video game. Not a movie. It was published in 2001. It is still regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time and has a cult following. As does the second. The third in fact, was met by most fans as... "meh"
But I digress; the movie you're thinking of was a terrible adaption of the video game. And it was TRULY terrible. In fact, apart from names; it didn't resemble Max Payne the game at all.
Secondly. Do not play Dragon Age 2. Play Origins. You can play the second one later, but you'll realize how shockingly bad it is after you've gone through Origins.
My god, I've never wanted to reach through my monitor and strangle someone so badly as I do now!
You didn't get it. Max Payne 3 had so many cutscenes that I personally don't consider it a game. The gameplay was so chopped up by scripted bits that you did more sitting and watching than actual playing.
That's right. 3 hours and 16 minutes of cutscenes..... Not video, not decision-making dialog choices, just cutscenes....
So, if this is his preference, don't you think my recommendations fit a little better in this context?
Edit: To put this further in context: The Expendables 2; 1 hour, 42 minutes. Lawless: 1 hour, 55 minutes. The Bourne Legacy: 2 hours, 15 minutes.... Edited by Ganf - 9/13/12 at 5:34pm
One I just recently finished was Mafia 2, took me on a little bit of an emotional roller coaster. I play enjoy games with more of a story driven aspect to them as well and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Also I know many people rag on RAGE but I'm playing through it at the moment and even though the stories a little weak the voice acting and animation quality mixed with the excellent shooting mechanics keep me playing. I got both for under $10 each, and I would suggest if possible get RAGE around that price range, but pay whatever you have to to play Mafia 2.
