Got my 8150 :)

Thread Starter
Well got my 8150 yesterday. This is where I've got it now.

Seems 4.7 is the highest I can get it with out using outrages voltages. Was wishing for at least 4.8~5.0 daily sadly even with my cooling the voltages required for 5.0 I hit the thermal limit.

I really feel like this is the sweetspot for the CPU and Ram voltages and frequency wise. The step from 4.7 to 4.8 voltage wise was a little to much.

What do you guys think? Let me know always open to try new things.

Not bad, but that's pretty average. What kind of core temps are you getting under load? Your cooling system seems pretty adequate for those clock speeds.

How far are you able to take it using the multiplier alone?

The following member runs a 4.8 OC with a similar water loop, so you should be able to do the same.

Well was a little suspicious of my temps. So I took the water block off. It was a good call. Could see I had a air pocket smack in the middle.

Its on my desk right now. Trying to clean this stubborn manufacture applied tim to the northbridge.Never did that yet.

I'll try again in a few.

4.9ish. That was the first time I got a couple hours to mess with it.Desktop and Games performed well. Was surprised. Got the whole weekend now so I can take more time. This was also with a 2 to 4 increase on the HTT.

Thanks for the link to got some info from there.

What thermal paste you gonna use? Make sure you use enough, about pea, or two rice sized amounts. Also, dont forget to +REP thumb.gif

Some Pk-1.

We'll messed with it for hours last night. I can get it to post at 5ghz(Multi OC) but getting it to windows is a different story. requires 1.5+ of voltage and yet again its to much even for this cooling.

Seems anything over 4.7 on this chip is not practical. I've tried just about every thing I've read through several guides nothing works.

I do think I will be either buying processors locally or a different vendor the last 3 Processors I've bought through newegg have all been duds. Plus I really think they sent me a refurbished processor. There was a rust spot on it. I'm not joking there was a tiny spot smack In the middle. I've got to give them a call sometime.

A little disappointed sure. I'm also happy with what I got 4.7 ain't bad either. Sure I wish for a 5ghz daily but it ain't gonna happen. I was messing with this for about 8 hours yesterday I'm done messing with it for now and going to go enjoy it and play some GW2 smile.gif

Wow, if there was a rust spot on mine, I'd call and get a little angry. I mean, you didn't pay for a refurb processor, you paid for a new one.

Exactly I'm calling them. I was really thinking about a refund and just buying from somewhere else and putting the 1090 in the mean time.

4.75ghz is the limit for my fx-8120, I can run some benches ar 4.9ghz. At 4.7ghz these chips are servicable, looking forward to the fx-8350 in a few weeks, I am going to do some evil things to that chip.

So, I been following OBR-Hardware for awhile (Well, since his "apparent" Piledriver Engineering-sample) - His newest post, a few hours earlier today, apparently confirms that his chip WAS a Piledriver

QUOTE:

I was right, my ES "Zambezi OR-C0" sample is Piledriver based CPU FX-8300. Here is proof, retail chip FX-8350 on CPUz screen. Ive told you, OR-C0 (stepping 0) is Retail stepping. Ive tested Retail FX-8300 stepping in my preview. I can unveil most important information now. Power consuption of that FX-8300 i have is HIGHER then FX-8150! Its power hunger chip ... power consuption look horrible to Ivy Bridge chips! Bye, stay tuned ... OCing of FX-8300 will be here soon ...

There are a few pictures and such on the website aswell.

Question is, is this the real deal ? Getting worried frown.gif
