We all have a lessons to learn. Never skimp on the power supply wink.gif

By the way, can you put pictures up of the rig? We all love pics.

It's funny you mention that bec I was already going straight to that as all my previous build were with antec psu and never had a single problem. Idk why I didn't again, I guess I just heard all this hype about corsair and gave in. I must have just pushed it too much, going antec I think this time.

It's all about the learning experience. I skimped and bought a horribly cheap MSI motherboard for my Uncle's computer once and it's been giving him nothing but hell since. Never again will I skimp on the essentials.

I agree, since building this and using it for the couple days I had it running. I don't think ill skimp on the essentials anymore. I did on the psu and looked what happened haha.

**UPDATE**

Upon further research and the fact that im already shipping my psu back to amazon, I will be getting a refund on my SB 2500K and exchanging out for the IB 3570K.

As i said in a previous reply, i chose the 2500K over the 3570K mostly for the overclocking ability, but i failed to research thoroughly and was not aware that a 3570K is ~300MHz faster per clock. This said, as i will be doing A LOT of streaming, im going to need all the cpu power i can get.

Also, for the couple days i had the PC running, i was streaming a bit and still maxing out the 2500K which was OCd to 4.5GHz. So switching over and trying the 3570K couldnt hurt as i already found out the 2500K wasnt cutting it. And if the 3570K doesnt do any better, i won't be upset as its only a few bucks more and i don't mind having the new gen chip.

smile.gif so my apologies to my first reply on why i chose the 2500K over the 3570K, i was incorrect!

Nooooo dont take the 2500k bac...wait hes already done it.

The 3570k suffers from ridiculously high temps above a certain voltage and no amount of cooling changes this, did this not come up in your research? The only known way to try and get around the problem is to delid the cpu IHS but you risk crushing the processor. A normal 3570k will do maybe 4.6ghz up to 4.8ghz if your lucky, whereas a 2500k can do the same but wont have like 90+C temperatures. Also who said a 3570k is 300mhz faster per clock?

Sorry to hear about the psu dying, im shocked a corsair psu died so quickly.

Also if your streaming and using your 2500k and a 4.5ghz overclock is not cutting it, I dont think a 3570k will solve that. To me that sounds like a need for a 2600k.

It was a CX600. The "Builder" series from Corsair is notoriously unreliable.

From my research (atleast) its not a TEMPERATURE issue the 3570K, its a HEAT TRANSFER issue due to the use of crappy thermal paste used and the compact clustering within the cpu. Although they are similar, to my understanding they are different in a way that the 3570K may run hotter, but thats because its not giving off as much heat as the 2500K, It just fails to transfer the heat better. As far as the ~300MHz faster, that is being said everywhere and benchmarks prove it.

This means.. 2500K @ 4.5GHz has equal benchs as a 3570k @ 4.2GHz. And from using the 2500K overclocked to ~4.6GHz and still maxing out while streaming not the way i want, I could probably push the 3570K to 4.6GHz but givin the higher thresh hold, it might run faster, idk.

But i honestly dont mind these pros and cons per cpu, I honestly would rather live with the 3570K since i already saw the 2500K in action, and if i am not happy with the 3570K, i will most likely just return it and fork over the extra money for the i7 biggrin.gif

I agree, i was told by any over in the PSU section, that the CX600 are just "overclocked" 500w PSUs and are bottom of the barrel. I decided to go with the Rosewill Capstone 750-M PSU for that extra head room, and we shall see on the 3570K. As i said above, I only chose to go with the 3570K because ive seen the 2500K and its already bottlenecking me for what i want to do. So it couldnt hurt to try the 3570K since it was so easy to get a refund for one and buy the other without any problems.

Yeah so you said your 4.5ghz 2500k wasnt good enough, i.e you need to overclock higher, which is fine but the 3570k wont go much over 4.5/4.6ghz without getting to stupidly high temperatures, unless your willing to take a chance by delidding your cpu.

Just thought id mention that.
