Inquirer:AMD 65 nanometre chips available - Page 3

somebody correct me if i am wrong but does 65mn mean temps will be lower? if that is the case then their is a chance that given a good stepping we might actually have some amd's that when overclocked can get somewhere near intel atm

To put it simply yes. Also, less power consumption, better overclockability, etc..... Also, does anyone know if the new 65nm are based on a new arch?

If those AMD chips come out and beat C2D I am going to kick myself because I just spent $420 on an e6700! But competition between the two companies is way better than having one of the fastest CPU's, because it helps us all out. I don't see AMD beating C2D soon though...

C2 is still a better architecture than AMD64 (K8). Even if the new 65nm chips allow for better overclockability, I doubt they're gonna be called the "conroe killer". K8 is pretty dated now... it's over 3.5 years old already (took Intel long enough to catch up). When K8L comes out a few months from now, AMD will be mopping the floor with Intel once again. Everything will be back to normal

Dude if AMD came out with something that mopped the floor with C2D that would be amazing. Think how fast that thing would be.
