Overclocking the Phenom II X6 1055T to 4.00GHZ+ - Page 14

Okay, 4.11GHz is too unefficient to keep stable (1.5v+), so I lowered to 4.0GHz, which still wants around 1.48 to be fully stable. I'll continue testing.

are you trying 6 cores, ive been trying to get my 1055t to 4ghz and it will do it with as lil vcore as possible, im currently at 1.308 with 3.7ghz at 6 cores, if i go over i notch on the bus core 5 or 6 fails or prime just stops where normally the comp goes off. if i lower the multi to 13.5 i can get 10-15 more on the bus back upto 3.7ghz again. i think them cores are weaker.

i also noticed lowering the multi and upping the fsb some more my temps were a tad lower rolleyes.gif

yeah, core 5 and six aren't just weak here, they're dying. so i'm running 4 cores, and I have the 300FSB lockup issue, and I'm missing one voltage setting to fix it.

how do you mean there dying is t degradation. mine if anything stops on the cores its 5 or 6 (mostly 6)
what voltage is it your looking for, im stummped at all the ones on my board. i upped cpu nb ram nb 1.8 nb and sb voltage and nothing i think its a wall with the cpu. lowering my multi proved that the voltage for my ram and cpu nb was ok as it kept going.

sometimes i fail in prime blend but can pass small fft and custom. i heard blend is more stressing on the cpu nb imc and ram is this correct?

Well, actually, I forgot to update my brain rolleyes.gif my cpu works fine at 4.0GHz at 6 cores (FFT for 2h35min) but my motherboard can't keep up with it. Memory management starts to crap out. very fast. I can't stay in safe voltage levels for it to stay stable. my motherboard lacks the setting that can make me fix it (I can't overvolt the motherboard itself).

i did have that board in my sister in laws rig and it was rubbish then on a 720be it unlocked it and worked great and then one day the graphics went off and the comp died, i think it took the vid card and proc and a 955 when testing it.
i got a m5a97 evo in it now with a sempron for now and its great. 1st thing i go for on a board is the phases 8+2 and vrm heatsinks.

have you anything cooling your vrms as i know it doesnt come with anything.

Update!
I bought an ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z and I received and installed it tonight.
So far, I got 3.9GHz pseudo-stable.
Aah, UEFI bios, so new and shiny...
Validation:

P.S. Let's give this thread a proper ending:

The Phenom II X6 1055T won't run at 4.0GHz for everyone on all cores, and certainly not on entry boards like the M4A87TD/USB3. Their Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) also is weak, so one would probably need to underclock their RAM if they are running at more than 1600MHz.

On overclocking boards (such as the Crosshair V Formula-Z and the Sabertooth), you may have good results depending on the quality of your specific unit, your experience, luck, amount of blood donated to the gods, and the number of aligned planets...

More seriously, 4.0GHz is not a promise on those CPU, but if you really want it, you can do it. However, they stop scaling nicely at 3.7GHz, so pushing above that is purely e-peen.
