Nice build anyways

I actually ended up ordering both types.biggrin.gif First was the Samsung, then I found the 8GB Kingston ones. I kind of need more memory than speed, but we'll see how it goes.

Also, big thanks to everyone who subbed. I always love watching other people's build logs and I'm happy to bring you one myself this time. thumb.gif

Aw, I would have voted for the Samsung RAM as well, but if you need that 16GB, then I guess you have to go Kingston. This mod looks awesome btw. I work at the Microcenter in Tustin over in the BYO department. I'll keep my eye out for someone oogling the ASRock Z77 ITX boards thumb.gif

Sunday Update:

My parents were down in Anaheim and were nice enough to stop by MC and pick up my board and chip.

So far so good. Everything arrived in great shape.

The wireless antenna is a perfect size for me to hide somewhere in the case.

Pretty standard layout for a M-ITX board. Now to start some physical mock-ups.

This half height memory is great, 16GB in such a small space. Like I said before, every MM will count in the end. And yes the green is kind of bleh. I'll see if I can do something about that.

The next update should be on Tuesday when the briefcase arrives. I'll be able to do the first physical mock-up and then I can decide on the cpu cooler.
Can an H60 with a better fan cool a 3570k overclocked to 4.2?
Or will I have to go with the H100.
Your thoughts on fans and the cooler would be great!

The fan pin looks a little bent. Is it from the picture?

Nice board. I wanted to pick it up, but it didn't have enough PCI slots

Just looked at the board again and they all look OK. I's probably just the picture.

When I started to look into parts for this project I almost went with a Micro ATX form factor. In the end I thought the whole thing would be a bit unwieldy. I decided then on a Mini ITX board so that I could keep the overall size down. Plus trying to find a 24X14X4" briefcase was difficult.

you consider getting low profile mem'?

also i had a H60 on an 2500k. 5GHz temps max around 85c i kept it @ 4.5Ghz 24/7 and temps never reached above 66c. but that was in a p/p config. ive read that IB runs hotter, but you should be fine.

I am using low profile memory. thumb.gif

Thanks for the extra info on the H60. I used one on my last prototype but I did not do any overclocking.

I'm still looking to see if I have room in the briefcase for the H100 but it's more likely that I will get something like the H60.
Anyone have a recommendation on a better fan for an H60. I only have room for one 25mm one.

Edit: Oh, I almost forgot...biggrin.gif
