[fosspatents] German court hands Apple rubber-banding patent injunction against Google's Motorola Mobility - Page 8

I'm really getting tired of these threads. They should be banned from OCN.

Every single Apple Patent thread turns into a flame war against Apple.

Sure, I hate Apple but all the arguments have been said 1000 times already and it really is just plain boring.

Every time I come on OCN, I see at least 1 or 2 Apple Patent threads in the OCN headlines... mad.gif

Actually there have been addons that allowed this for years. I am referring to firefox addons. Apple did not invent this in the slightest. They took it and patented it, then called it their own.

I agree that these threads get fairly ridiculous(and this is coming from a dedicated Apple hater), which is why I usually don't post in them. I suggest that you do the same if they bother you instead of calling for a topic ban, because the developments of the ongoing iOS/Android litigation can have a significant effect on the mobile computing industry, so I like to hear about it, even if I don't say much about it here.

This.

OCN is mainly a computer forum, but a general tech forum as well. The news in the mobile world has been volatile as of late.

i thought it was clear that UI cannot be patented..

ohh, apple took tablet pc and stuck it with a phone, so creative
google came up with voice search first, notification bars first, home screens first, ability to change wall paper first, support for live wall paper first, proper messaging app first, and basically any customization at all first
what has apple invented? they basically stuck a tablet pc together with a phone and called it creative for the hipsters

Why did you quote me? He was talking about it being ridiculous that Apple wants to destroy Android, not that I support them.

They don't know what else to do when they find someone who won't agree with their opinion. And yes you're correct software concepts shouldn't be patentable at all.

Sigh... it goes to show how Apple haters will believe anything about anyone who doesn't agree with them. You don't see me insulting anyone because they don't agree with me.

I'm not living in denial. I have no allegiance, and what's wrong with being biased? The majority of people posting in this thread have a strong bias against Apple.

I've the right to my opinion. If you don't like it then don't reply. It's immature to insult others because they have differing opinions. And no my posts aren't "predictable" and "1-dimensional".

I can? I don't know much about it actually.

Actually no I hate patent threads. I'm interested in discussing Apple products amongst other things, not law suits... however fosspatents (unlike most articles) actually know what they're talking about so it's incredibly informative. Hopefully in future others will post from them, and not from numerous internet bloggers who think they understand patent law.

It's no solution to ban Apple patent threads, but I think a separate section for all patent threads (Apple or not) would be brilliant -- though I'd bet Apple patents would fill it. I wish they weren't posted so much.

It annoys me, because time and time again people say the GSIII is so much more powerful and that it's the be all and end all of smartphones. The power is absolutely useless unless there are apps that can utilise it.
I was hugely disappointed with the iPhone 5 but to be fair there were some things that made me smile, such as:
The reversible adapter...this should have been done along time ago. An adapter that doesn't require a certain orientation to fit in. How long have we all been frustrated with USB, because of this issue?
The panoramic image merger...again something that is highly usable. It's practical, efficient and something that should have been developed a long time ago.
Taking photos during video mode. I've had this idea in my head for a while now, I'm glad someone has finally implemented it.
Say what you will about Apple, but they seem to have this amazing ability to bring functions to a phone that we have all been screaming for, whilst every other manufacturer continues to ignore us. Non of the above ideas took a 'genius' to implement, yet continually these issues get ignored.
The GSIII brought nothing like this to the table, just pointless hardware upgrades that can never be used unless you arouse yourself over benchmarks all day long.

people say the GSIII is the king of android phones right now...i say i disagree. the Galaxy Nexus is. sure the hardware is worse, dual core instead of quad core, but it makes up for that in the ease of unlocking, rooting, and flashing...all 3 of which are much easier to performn than on the S3. That alone puts the Galaxy Nexus as #1 in my eyes, because it stays true to the android philosophy.

(not to mention it is blazing fast on an AOSP build of jellybean and overclocked biggrin.gif )

As far as all the patent stuff goes...i'm starting to be apathetic. i have my phone that i love, and as long as they dont try to take it away from me, i simply dont care anymore.

PS: i dont know what you're talking about with panoramas and pictures during video, because that was already implemented on the Galaxy Nexus. i dont know about the S2, never was terribly into it so i didnt learn much about it.

How do you patent a visual effect? Shouldn't only the code itself be patented?
