Getting a different phone?

Thread Starter
I currently have an HTC Rezound, which has been a bitter sweet experience. It's got fantastic specs, but some odd design choices, the impossible to hit the first try power button and moronically placed android home button being the worst offenders. It also only just last month got ICS and is now apparently never going to get another android update, even though the phone is just shy of a year old.

My phone has several malfunctions, the worst being it randomly resets quite often, so I am going to get it replaced.

I've read that many people have been able to get a different comparable phone, as the carrier I am on will replace the phone with and identical phone OR one of approx equal value. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I wouldn't mind trading for a gnex smile.gif

Whatever you do don't get the iPhone 5. Biggest disappointment as far as smartphone releases go. Seriously no NFC and still uses an 8MP camera? Downgraded screen ppi? Long like a twig and so light it feels cheap? Nope not buying that crap. iPhone 5 also fails to impress in terms of iOS. All the Apple fanboys hate iOS 6.

Get the Samsung Galaxy S3. Or if you don't have the money, get the GNex. Both will have Android 4.1 Jellybean, Project Butter and have all the specs to run smoothly. The SGS3 does have the edge over the GNex in terms of RAM (2GB vs 1GB), processor (Exynos 4 quad core vs dual core), Internet Browser performance and 3G/4G LTE upload/download speeds.

If you have the money, definitely get the SGS3.

mmh troll?

+megapixels do not equal +quality

"The iPhone 5 has a 4-inch (diagonal) Retina display (1136×640 at 326 ppi). The new screen offers a 16:9 aspect ratio and 44-percent better color saturation that the older iPhone. If old apps aren’t updated for the new display, they will run in letterbox" screen downgrade?

light? feels heavier than s3, which btw lost points everywhere for feeling flimsy.

iOS issues? trollin?

honestly i loved andrioid, just hardware/os wise, the iphone 5 dominates s3, just wait for benches. theres not nearly as much customization, but if you dont like dont get ha

Go for the Droid RAZR. Super thin, but not too light. Great camera. Decent battery. Good screen. I don't know if you're into rooting, but if so definitely put the RAZR Eclipse ROM on it.

the S3 dominates iPhone 5... not the other way around.
it-doesnt-take-a-genius.jpeg

do the math.... the iPhone 5 also comes with 1GB ram compared to 2GB ram (iif you get international version of S3, it is a quad core).

I'd recommend the S3 or Galaxy Nexus.
S3 is supposedly getting Jelly Bean next month. Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) is on ICS still but there is a leaked build of JB... or you can flash custom ROMs (both phones have custom ROMs for JB, stable as well).

I considered getting the Gnex, but was eligible for upgrade and picked up a SGS3. One of the best thing I have ever done.

If you like having external memory and a removable battery, definitely go with the SGS3, if that is not of concern. Then SGS3, Gnex, or HTC One X, take your pick. I dislike HTC Sense, but that is easy enough to fix with a custom ROM.

Galaxy Nexus has a removable battery. External memory is possible with microUSB to USB (not as nice as SDCard... but if you're on VZW, it comes with 32GB anyways so external memory is not a big deal for me, it bothers some people but yeah).
