I personally feel that the S3 is too big in size relative to my hands. If it was a tad smaller, I probably would go S3, but since it isnt: Iphone has my vote. This is personal preference afterall

Neither, get a HTC One X

I have the S3 and love it. Whenever I go and use an iPhone, it feels really small and couldn't imagine going back to using a screen that small. Obviously the screen wouldn't be that small on the iPhone 5 but it still won't be as wide.

Yes, I guess you could say that it does feel cheaper than the iPhone but that's probably because it is. The spec more than makes up for it though and that's one of the main things I have been impressed with, especially with Jelly bean on it's way and project butter will only build on it's already blazing speed.

I know what I'd go for but that's just me. Get what suits you, not what suits others.

Whoa, is this really your first post in five years? That's pretty crazy haha. But the one thing I don't like about the One X is it doesn't have a microSD slot

You should probably go to a store and check out the S3 in person. If it fits in your hand, you'll probably want to ditch your iphone right there and then. If not, or you feel like it's hard to operate, then it's probably not for you.

There are 2 reasons i even buy Apple products. No matter what comes out their value does not change for that 1 year period and even after. Android phones come out like no tomorrow. Until iPhone 5s iPhone 5 will cost more then S3 used. Also if i have a problem with a Apple product i can just go to Apple Store and get it fixed/replaced. I would have to do it Online for other Phones. That being said phones dont really break unless you break it.

If you want customisation then go for the Android. It's easier to do, doesn't require rooting, but rooting is extremely easy to do. There's no worry of waiting for a jailbroken version of your firmware to come out, or missing out on new updates because the version of the software you use hasn't been cracked/jailbroken yet.
With iOS, a new version comes and if you're jailbroken, you have to abstain for a week, maybe even months, depends how hard Apple have made it to customise your device/jailbreak.
With Android, more specifically, you can root extremely easily by installing a rooted kernel and a SuperUser app (they're in the same package, usually). When a new software version comes from Samsung, you install it over your existing install, don't lose a single byte of data, and then you simply reinstall your kernel, or use the rooted kernel that comes with it. Waiting time? Hours. The software (Odin) you use to flash these things? Free and around 20mb. Chance of bricking your device? Nil (unless you disconnect it while flashing, or lose power... same goes for any flashing process. Even then it's just a case of flash again when you do have power.)
The iPhone 5 offers nothing new that Android hasn't been doing for at least 6 months.
I don't think the GSIII is at all plastic-y and it's quite light. The build quality on it seems really nice and the screen is quite scratch resistant. If you want some more bulk on it, buy a case for it. There's a good Aegis Trident case on the market that's sexy as hell.
As for messaging, get your friends to use WhatsApp, it's available cross platform on Android, WP, iOS and even Blackberry.
Here's my current setup with my GS3. I have the latest ICS version from Samsung (XXBLG9) rooted. It took me literally 10 minutes from turning the phone on the first time, to having it rooted (I read about it before, of course and had the files ready to go... my download speeds would increase the time otherwise ). When the official JellyBean Android from Samsung drops I'll be able to install it the second it arrives AND have root and there will be no messing around waiting for it to be cracked like iPhone jailbreaks.
Stock GS3 homescreen:

My current homescreen:

Difficulty to achieve this? Nil. After rooting and installing a custom recovery, I flashed one file that is a theme/reskin and I had those sexy blue colours. There are other themes/colours too.

If you want a nice, simple to use phone that should be ridiculously fast w/ the new hardware and iOS, then get an iPhone 5.

If you'd rather talk about "roots" and "kernels" and feel cool that you can make your text turn blue, then go GS3. Both seem pretty nice.

smile.gif Yeah thats right lol, I used to come here years ago and I registered, then I recently came back so I thought id make some posts biggrin.gif

Also I also miss my microSD slot but most phones don't have them now days cause the internal memory is much faster and they would probably prefer you pay extra for more storage space... apple.

GS3 all the way, you wont regret it. Owned every iphone until the 3gs then evo 4g, evo 3d and now a samsung device, wow what a phone. I personally dont care if a phone is plastic, metal or aluminum, its pretty light anyways my phones always go into cases. This phone is loaded with features that no other phone out there has, one of them is the motion sensor. Go to youtube and you'll see what im talking about.

One thing that i was expecting on the iphone 5 was NFC, i have used google wallet on this phone plenty of times, its pretty cool.

Development support for this phone is amazing, moded roms and if you dont like Touchwiz theres the option of running AOSP roms for even better performance. In my opinion android is a lot more flexible compared to iOS, but at the end its all about preference, for me android does it all.

Sent from my GS3 on the **** network
