That means it's a PITA to take it off when needed. So, I picked up a nice piece of 90-degree angled aluminum and made mounting brackets that will separate the attachment of the SSD from the case:

That's a fantastic idea! Excellent thinking there dood! thumb.gif

Got me a new 680 SC shroud for the 670 ftw. After a long discussion with PPCS, it was concluded to fit the 670 FTW. Few months ago, Jacob from Evga also told me it should fit (if I ever find one hehe) and now, quite surprisingly I did. PPCS had a brand new shroud + 680 backplate for spankin' 23$ ! (in the "scratch & dent" section) so I bought it just few days ago along with a Raystorm, Black Ice 280 rad, Masterkleer tubing, Lian Li casters and Lian Li case feet. smile.gif

If you're asking why I bought it, it's because I wanted to have that awesome shroud in case I don't LC the gpu, which as of now seems a bit problematic. I can't find the block I want for it which is the old-look FC 680 from EK. There's now a big noise over this sort of "fiasco" in the water cooling forum. If they bring it back I might change to an whole EK setup.

Another update while I wait on some parts...

I think I finally completed my pump/res market research and decided to go with a Bitspower dressed D5 (in awesome matte black) and a Bitspower cylindrical water tank (comes with an upgrade kit). This means I will have the option to mount the pump separately from the res or combo them together. Any how, the res is going to get mounted at the top of the case. I'm thinking on mounting it over the fans, or if I don't have enough clearance, straight to the top 140mm fans holes. Also I got me some rivets from MDPC and some sata sleeving for taking the option of sleeving the hoses.

Until finding a gpu block for my 670 ftw, I gave it a rather temporary aesthetics boost by replacing the stock (and ugly) shroud with a 680 signature shroud! This thing just looks astonishing in person! It has a black/white/carbon finish to it and the white stuff is actually a very neat aluminum finish.

Cheap move making a GTX 670 seem like a 680 tongue.gif

Is the PCB size the same for the GTX 680 and GTX 670? Or does the GTX 670 PCB look awkward with the GTX 680 cooler?

The great thing about the 670 ftw, is that it's chip was "picked" and therefore was put on a 680 pcb and given the sub-title 'FTW'. Physically, It's exactly the same as a 680 (same pcb) and performance wise, the difference is very marginal (that's why a lot of people get FTW instead of throwing 100$ more for a 680). However it isn't an overclocked 670 but an hardware wise beefed up version. Also, with slight overlock, you can achieve 680 speeds if not better (especially under water). You can't do this mod on the regular 670s which is why I didn't end up buying. redface.gif
