opty 165's have so far come out on top, followed by the 170's. seems like the 165 got the best batch because everyone's talking about 3 Ghz unless you have the CCBWE stepping

any recommendations? E6400 || E6700 ?
I always recommend Intel-brand motherboards to people who want an Intel system. They are known to be the finest and most stable but weren't really an overclocker's board until recently. I recommend the D975XBX if it fits in your budget http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813121016

also... the E6400 has half the L2 cache of the E6700. The former has 2MB and the latter has 4MB. This is a good reference for all the differences between Core 2 processors. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...icroprocessors

I don't think an FX57 alone would cover a nice C2D system. If you're looking to save money or break even go for an AMD DC and OC it. My Opty165 is doing 2.93 @ 1.4V and it only cost me $150 from Monarch.
