First build. First time overclocking. - Page 3

After a little more thought and research i've come up with this...

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 $368.99
MOBO: DFI Infinity 975X/G $209.88 (Yes, I decided on this over the P5B)
GPU: ATI Radeon X1900GT I can get this for $260. Think that's a good way to go for now instead of the 7600GT? I do plan on buying a newer card in about 6 months.
RAM: Team Xtreem PC2-6400 2GB DDR2-800 4-4-4-10 $321.30
PSU: OCZ GameXStream 700W $164.28
HD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB $108.99
CASE: Antec P180 $141.55
DRIVE: Pioneer DVD+-dl $39.50
SOUND: Onboard for now.

$1614.49

Any recommendations for a cooler? A friend told me Zalman is a very good brand. Something like this mabye?

mobos dont say they support the better ram speeds simply becus they dont need to.. all the current cpus and none use that 800 as the stock ram speed.. thats simply why...

but just like with DDR, DDR2 is the same u can get a higher speed and it will run just fine

^^^Both the team group and your G.Skill use D9GMH(GKX)

Anyway...

Get the x1950pro over the 1900gt

Sapphire X1950 Pro $255
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...cture=SAPPHIRE

EDIT:Sapphire X1950 Pro $238
http://www.directcanada.com/products...cture=SAPPHIRE

That Zalman you linked to is for GPUs

Thermalright ULTRA-120 $56
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...e=THERMALRIGHT

And get the DS3 or P5B over that DFI

That Team Xtreem uses the same chips as G.Skill, and is cheaper. Thus, a good pick.

Having that DFI board, I again recommend against it! IT's decent, but finicky! The BIOS lacks a CPU multiplier setting(!) and RAM settings are hard to play with. This board will not get you over 400MHz FSB

The cooler yuo linked is for a video card, not for the CPU.

For the CPU, I'd try to get the Sunbeam Tuniq Tower (but likely hard to find), or the Scythe Infinity http://www.directcanada.com/products...facture=SCYTHE

As usually, agreeing with Boredom. The Thermalright is a good cooler also

Good build

If you want to go cheaper on the mobo you could go with the DS3 or P5B

yeap you got it

Edit: just for the record... the only reason why the Infinity still is in use is because I am waiting for the DFI RD600 board

If the P5B Deluxe only supports 1.8v this RAM won't work...?
I put that ram in my i680, which set it to a default voltage of 1.9v and it posted fine, I only needed to put it at 2.2v when I overclocked the cpu/ram.

If I had to choose RAM from this selection here, what would be the best?

I'm thinking either one of the Corsair 2GB XMS2-6400's?
