Space For Rads

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I'm looking at putting my computer under water and I was wondering if you can fit a 240 rad in the front of an NZXT Phantom 410. I know you can definitely fit one in the top but I want more rad because I'm also cooling my 6970 which runs a bit hot.

Ninja!

You can, but you have to remove both hard drive cages completely, so you'll have to find a different area for your hard drives. However, you can probably cool it with just a 240mm for the cpu and a 120mm radiator in the back instead of another 240mm. It would be a complete waste of money if you had one 240mm for the CPU and another 240mm for the GPU. Completely unnecessary.

I was just thinking "more rad = lower temps" to a certain degree (room temp).

I wouldn't call it a complete waste. Not necessary in the present circumstances maybe, but not a complete waste. For one thing, room to expand is always a good thing. As long as your pump can deal with the increase in restriction, which could be minimal, it will provide cooler temps. How much and is it worth it? Probably not much, and if something is worth it is completely subjective.
I would not limit myself if I don't have to. If you have 2 X 240 rads, then you are ready for 2 X GPU Cores.

You can have 50 rads and still get the same temps

Radiators have diminishing returns. Each extra radiator you add lowers your temps less than the last.

that is correct but more rads also let you run slower fans and keep same temp and he can add another gpu to his loop if he wanted to without raising the temps.

I say go for it, as it's always better to have excess than insufficient amount of radiator space. The XSPC EX240 or Alphacool NeXXos XT45 240 would both be excellent choices.
