That is pretty low stuff and hope AMD takes the high road here. Of course they have stated in the past that they are against that sort of thing so I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise.
I don't see AMD doing anything proprietary for two reasons:
1) They use open standards or push for them, as is the case with opencl and HSA.
2) As the smaller company/underdog, its shooting yourself in the foot to make proprietary standards. Its a way to lock others out of market share, not gain it. Who wants to buy less popular AND proprietary standards at the same time? At least thats how I see it.
