2x Korean Monitor with Ati HD7970

Thread Starter
The Ati 7970 has 1 Dual Link DVI port, one HDMI and one DisplayPort. It also has one single link DVI. (Specs here: http://goo.gl/k5swQ )

Can I connect two 27" Koeran monitors to this card or do I need another card such as the GTX 680 which has 2x dual link dvi ports?

What res are those screens? Anything over 1080p must get connected to a dual link. It seems weird why powercolor gave two hdmi- single link adapter. You will need to buy an hdmi-dual-link adapter.

If you're located close enough to a micro-center you could pick up the same Korean monitor re-branded. It's 400$ but it supports DVI + Displayport so you could use your card without buying adapters. http://www.microcenter.com/product/384780/EQ276W_27_IPS_LED_Monitor

If you already have the monitors just buy an adapter like noobhell mention - the displayport to DVI adapters are much more expensive than the hdmi ones.

Can I use the DP->DVI adapter that came with my card? Looks like it has 24+1 pins which is dual link right?

I know but often they just put in all pins so you can use them with dual-link cables but the pins used only by dual-link just don't have any signal running through them.

If you got a 7xxx series card, you would have to get an active DP to DVI adapter in order for the second monitor to work.

http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-MDP2DVID-DisplayPort-Dual-Link-Powered/dp/B004I6L6DW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1347737859&sr=8-5&keywords=active+dp+to+dvi

Or you can go nvidia and have two dual link dvi ports built in to the card.
