800D, OK to spray with water? (metal dust removal)

Thread Starter
Just finishing up modding my 800D with my dremel. Cut the mesh out of the top and made some holes in the bottom for a 240 rad. Now I'm currently in the process of using the grinder attachment to clean the edges up.

The case is very dusty now with all little metal bits, obviously. I was wondering if its ok to hose down the case with water to clean it out? I don't want to mess up the paint though. I have it completely stripped down- if it wasnt riveted into the case, I took it out. So no worry about harming anything electronic.

That's how I always do it. Just hose it down then do my best to dry it off with a towel.

Thanks Robbo, it worked great. It was also very ironic for me while I was hosing it down since I'm going to be doing watercooling. Won't want 1 drop of water in the case when I do that, haha!

It'll be fine. The case is powder coated.

FYI, I'm pretty sure that hosing off any case is just fine. So long as you don't let the water just sit on bare metal, which would cause it to rust.

Aluminum is perfectly fine, and so is stainless steel. You can soak those in water as much as you like. Regular carbon steel is the one you'll want to wipe the water off quickly, especially if there is bare metal. In fact, you'll want to paint or seal that bare metal ASAP before it oxidizes.
