SLI GTX 560 Ti 448 and GTX 660 Ti?

Thread Starter
About a year ago, last Christmas, I bought an EVGA GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores Classified Edition graphics card. Its been a great card and all, but since the 6 series came out I want to try out the new Kepler architecture. I will have some extra money to spend this Christmas so I am hoping to buy the GTX 660 Ti. Here's the link to it (I buy from newegg): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-127-696

Basically I was hoping to find out if it was possible to do a 2-way SLI with the GTX 660 Ti and the 560 Ti 448. Are they compatible? From what I heard it might be possible. I just need an expert's opinion on this one. Thanks in advance for the help. smile.gif

EDIT: The 7950 is about the same price as the 660 (279 after rebate) and is a lot faster...and it might get cheaper by xmas:

I have used Nvida for quite some time and if I can use both graphics cards using the modded driver than I will get the 660. If I can't I will probably just get another 560 Ti 448. It really depends on the price during Xmas. I'll keep you posted, thanks!

Personally, I'd avoid hacks. My friend uses one and everytime he updates his drivers he has hassles and has to rebuild the hack.
Two 560ti's in SLI would be a lot of horsepower for a single monitor.

I plan on getting better monitors in a year or so. Do you think I should get another 560 Ti 448 for SLI? Or get a 660 Ti and just wait till I can afford another for sli. By the way, I really appreciate you inputs. wink.gif

I have 560Ti 448 SLI and all I can say is they offer great performance. However, there is a small micro stutter issue and some games have a hard time with the SLI config.

If it were me, I would sell the 560ti 448 you have, save the money and buy a 670 or 680.

MyFaceHole - It would be helpful to those who want to help you if you filled out a rig list (mine's Mild Mod), i7Stealth1366's is White Knight, etc. That way recommendations can take into account other gear you have. For instance if you have a high quality, 500W psu people might recommend moving to a better single gpu. But if it is low quality they might recommend replacing it and going sli. Also, the monitor size you have now and what you plan to move to is useful.

I have run 3 sli rigs and two with single gpu's. The single gpu setups were always the easiest - you are never waiting for sli drivers. I am not having any issues at the moment, but I am not playing any brand new releases either. We'll see what happens in a few days with Borderlands 2. biggrin.gif

I did fill out a rig in rig builder but its not showing up under my posts... How do I get it to show up? I have a 900W power supply, its peak is 1000W. And to i7Stealth1366, I am probably going to get another 560 and sell both of them when I am ready to get a better graphics card. Thanks for the suggestion though. smile.gif
