I assume it happened when installing FAHControl and hitting configure in FAHControl? In that case, you need FAHClient running too as the back end. FAHControl will pick up automatically and you can control it from there on. You might need to allow local IP 127.0.0.1 too, but lets try it without first.

Like I said in the background information the GUI is the front-end controlling the back-end FAHClient, so FAHClient needs to be running too wink.gif
I just had the exact same problem on another install and when I added the 127.0.0.1 to the config.xml it started working thumb.gif

EDIT: I may have been hasty on my post, when I restarted the VM I got the same problem and now it wont let me edit it again

The client runs but the control flickers from orange connecting to online green but never takes over, so I can't configure it.
Gonna try and reinstall again.

Edit: Ok I got the FAHControl to work local if I install the FAHControl into the fahv7/v7 directory without opening a new terminal, but when I edit the config.xml file for remote monitoring the local FAHControl no longer works

it wont fold without the config.xml edit, but will connect to fahcontrol, but after edit, fahcontrol is a no go no mo

I edited the config.xml instructions. If you do this FAHControl should work. FAHClient should be started first though. It isn't a problem if you close FAHClient when FAHControl is working, but it won't connect untill a new FAHClient process is started (via terminal).

Yes, you can enter flags but you'd need to restart FAHClient for it to be applied wink.gif

thanks for taking the time to write this up.

excuse a noob but how to i start the client? i followed directions for 12.04, rebooted and have no idea how to run/launch/whatever the client.

edit: figured out how to run, now I get this error:

"bash: ./FAHClient: cannot execute binary file"

don't know that it ever installed properly as it never prompted me to configure the client.

First of all delete directory fahv7 (in /home/[username]) completely . Then start all over and make sure you use the Ubuntu 12.04 command line.

You do have a 64-bit installation right?
