Chiller Box - Cooling water with a Mach II

Hi

This is not my one projekt, but hope to get some input from you still thumb.gif

The cooling unit is a older Mach II, and is thinking about making a big res, and cool 2-5 Liter water = Get lower cooling on both Graphic and CPU than "regular" watercooling.



The pump will be inside the RES (Dont need isulation) and at the top the water will go in, and out in the bottom ...

Then the Mach II will be mounted on the side - But how will you get the most cooling into the water ? ... Weld a lot of cobber pipes (6-10mm) from a cobber base, or ?



Any input is welcome thumb.gif - Know a lot of people would buy a regular waterchiller, but if this should work the best - How will you do it ?

I actually did a sort of similar thing the other day. I got a Antec Kuhler 620 and cable tied it to the evap on my LD unit. Unit held -30 on the Evap and the push pull Gentle Typhoons on the radiator was pumping very cold air out.

I would guess that if you soldered a heatpipe CPU cooler the the evap, that would be one of the more efficient ways of cooling a large res but you could just use a normal waterblock inline too.

The heatpipe CPU cooler is a really nice idea, thanks thumb.gif .... Will take a closer look on it smile.gif

Like stated, wouldn't be easier to attach a cpu/gpu waterblock to the evap and have that block be in your loop? It would cool your loop down and be very simple.

Why not just use the Mach 2 on the CPU?

If it's a stock unit of 180-200w capacity it won't be worth the time, hassle and money turn into a water chiller, especially if it's planned to cool both a CPU and GPU.

A decent low'ish end water chiller needs at least 600w cooling capacity minimum.
