Dual SLi 6600GTs - budget SLi is ftw?

So, with the machine in my sig (except I just located a second XFX GeForce 6600GT for 60bux, thats a total of 130$ I spent between the 2 of them now, stock cooling for the moment) Ive managed to game considerably well, no artifacts up to 555mhz GPUclock, and 1225mhz(reported) VRamclock (611.25mhz actual), max temps of 80C, idle temps of ~49C, ambient temp in room is ~79F (~26C)

Heres what I have for comparison so far:
Code:
----------------------------------------------------
SINGLE 6600GT - STOCK DRIVERS
OC (550/1200):
3DMark05 - 3859 3Dmarks

Aquamark:
 DisplayWidth: 1024
  DisplayHeight: 768
  DisplayDepth: 32
  AvgFPS: 51.042515
  MinFPS: 14.778334
  MaxFPS: 114.965439
  AquamarkScoreRender: 7290
  AquamarkScoreSimulation: 8505
  AquamarkScore: 51042

92.71 driver w/ same OC as above
Aquamark -
  DisplayWidth: 1024
  DisplayHeight: 768
  DisplayDepth: 32
  AvgFPS: 60.862144
  MinFPS: 22.772228
  MaxFPS: 134.865128
  AquamarkScoreRender: 9165
  AquamarkScoreSimulation: 9056
  AquamarkScore: 60862

------------------------

Dual SLi (stock clock speeds) - 96.89 drivers (untweaked)
3DMark03 - 8,263 3DMarks
3DMark05 - 3,510 4DMarks

-------------------------

Dual SLi w/ 92.91 Drivers (X-G from TweaksRUs) Stock clock speeds
3DMark03 - 11,682 3DMarks
3DMark05 - 05,954 3DMarks
Aquamark - 10,161 (GPU)

--------------------------

Dual SLi w/ 92.91 Drivers (X-G from TweaksRUs) 550mhz gpu / 1100mhz vram
3DMark03 - 12,506 3DMarks
3DMark05 - 06,285 3DMarks
Aquamark - 10,254 (GPU) -- MAX GPU core temps 70C, 71C (idle: 47-49C)

--------------------------

Dual SLi w/ 92.91 Drivers (X-G from TweaksRUs) 570mhz GPU / 1200mhz vram
idle temp: 49C -- MAX Temp 78C - started to artifact slightly :(

--------------------------

Dual SLi w/ 92.91 Drivers (X-G from TweaksRUs) 560mhz GPU / 1200mhz vram
idle temp: 49C -- MAX temp 80C, damn D:
very very slight artifact, still unacceptable

--------------------------

Dual SLi w/ 92.91 Drivers (X-G from TweaksRUs) 555mhz GPU / 1228mhz vram
idle temp: 50C -- MAX temp 80C
3DMark03 - 12,836 3DMarks
So Im gonna need some VGA cooling, at the very least a cheap zalman, lap it and use AC silver, then get some good ramsinks, that should do quite well as long as the clearance between the 2 cards is large enough (roughly 35cm IIRC)

Anyone else OCing a 6600 or maybe 2 6600s? Id be interesting in a comparison, and any suggestions are welcome (drivers, cooling, comments, questions, flames, etc, etc)

I hope at least SOMEONE finds this data useful (Ill have to update my sig rig after this post)

Thanks Ive got to say, SLi is pretty cool aside from the slight increase in temperature due to the proximity of the cards. Admittedly, this is my first time playing with SLi, but I'm hoping I can include 7 series or even maybe 8 series cards in SLi mode inside my dual core opteron build (hellloooo Xmas bonus)

definetly get the 88GTX, but I would wait for AM2 65nm chips and ATIs R600..thats where its at.

And where's that, imagination? Haha Im just joking.

Dont Pass the Fence: If you can snag another card for $60, you will have a rig that will play games well enough that you may be able to hold out for the newest cards, which would be nice.
