Sapphire X1950 Pro in mail Tuesday, suggestions

Thread Starter
What's up everyone......getting the X1950 Pro 256Mb in the mail Tuesday (it better be there too, I paid $25 for fedex overnight!), and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as far as OCing app that works for this card. I've read that the only one that really supports this card is the Overdrive (BLAH!), but I was wondering if anyone has used ATI Tray Tools or ATI tool.....I really don't want to use CCC, but if I have to I will. Also, are the 6.10 Catalysts supported, or do you guys use the Omegas? I've read the threads concerning this card, so I've seen that someone said that the 6.10s aren't supported officially. I'm pretty sure that my CPU will bottleneck this card, and my MOBO is stock (), so any tips are appreciated, as I'm ready to rip into some games and benching!
Also, I've ordered some Arctic 5 with the card, and I've never applied this stuff before, so I would appreciate some tips on this matter, especially if anyone of you fellas with this card have removed the heatsink/fan combo yet....I want to make sure that I don't f#$k the world up!
Peace out all

I have one 2 and Im pretty happy with it. There isnt any OCing tool except for CCC that supports the card out yet and there isnt a new Catalyst version that supports it either. Just stick around with the one in the box til 6.11 is out. The card is brand new so it should take some time.

Why do you want to apply AS5 on it? The stock cooler works fine and the temps are good
I see no reason for dis-warrentying (if thats a word ) the card just to apply AS5.

The x1950 Pro doesnt OC too well as the the card gets too hot on the back. I would get some ram sinks and put them on anything that is exposed. Also the Sapphire version is OC'd already and I dont think you will get any higher.

Hey, the 6.11 betas are out, and they support the X1950. I just got the card today and installed it, along with the 6.11s, so I will let you know if they are stable: I"m about to test them on BF2142 and 3Dmark 06. Also, Ray Adams (creator of ATI Tray Tools) told me that you could OC this card with the driver-level overclocking, urder the ocerclocking menu, so give it a try. I'm going to try that later tonight after I get back from the movies, and I will post my results.

FYI::None of the X1900-X1950 cards OC well, simply due to the fact that they are clocked to almost maximum speeds when they are produced. Why do you judge a video card only on the OC capabilities? I have the Sapphire X1950 Pro and with the beta version of

Hey dude, why is your score so low? I have a score in 03 of 8659 before OC (haven't gotten it OCed much yet). Do you have the AGP model? If so, then that explains it....if not I would suggest trying some different drivers, like the ones here:
http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/suppo...s_viewlist.php
Let me know what you system specs are, and I'll help you out dude, becuase my CPU and RAM are both stock, non-OCed, so you should be smoking me in benches.

All you need is the Cat 6.11's and install them.
You are good to go.

There is a special fan/hs for the X1800-X1900 line.
Supposed to work pretty well.
The HIS X1950 Pro comes with the best cooling of any of the cards.

Which special heatsink/fan as you referring to? Is is a Zalman fan, or which brand? I'm probably going to order one pretty soon, and I was looking at the Accelero X2.

Ive heard good stuff about the Accelero X2. Probably provides the best cooling/quietness for the money out there (even though the price range isnt that big between the coolers). I would go for the Accelero if i were you..
