I also agree with this. The Ib CPU might be a little hotter when OC, but still might as well get the newest CPU.

The CPU is not really going to make a difference with gaming. GPU will be the only, if any, bottle neck.

As far as upgradability goes - will the 1155 socket and Z77 chipset be compatible with haswell?
Also, is the i5 a bottleneck for any of the newer video cards coming out?

its not compatible with haswell & no it will not bottleneck the newer card as of now.

Yes i did. However - in 2 months time, this 1000 dollar build will likely more like 850-900 (hopefully!) - that being said, a 750 build now would be even less expensive in 2 months.
And where i can save in one area - will allow me to expend in another (GPU / Monitor).

I hope it is cheaper, but I do not see prices dropping that much in 2 months.

Maybe there will be better deals in preparation for the holiday season.

That's very true. Now you've got me betting on watching individual parts during holiday deals. I would hate to waste money frown.gif

I am seeing these Mushkin SSDs being used in these builds - is this for the price? Or because they are pretty good?

Again thank you for the help everyone - i feel like a little kid asking stupid questions. Thank you for making my life a little easier
