Need a MX518 beater for Counterstrike

I've been using an MX518 for a LONG time now, I've tried lots of other mice over the years, DeathAdder, G5, G400, Steelseries Ikari etc etc but always came back to the mx518. The only game I need my mouse to be good in is Counterstrike: Global Offensive as I play competitively and need a proper "e-sport grade" mouse. No multi colour lights, 10,000DPI or Macro anything is needed.

Must haves

  • Palm Grip
  • No Acceleration
  • 500Hz+
  • Good left click (short travel but firm)
  • Optical
  • Firm scroll wheel
  • Built to last (I.e buttons don't go mushy after lots of clicks)


Looking at this list of mice used by Pro CS:S players, the Zowie mice seem quite popular as does the Steelseries Xai...

One thing I'm not sure about is Prediction, my MX518 has it and I think that in a game like CS where 90% of the time oyu keep the crosshair at head height it is probably a good thing right?

So out of the Zowie line-up and the SS Xai, which do you think is most likely going to be better than my MX518?

When did you try the G400? It's the direct successor to it. The 1st run of G400s used a different sensor than they do now w/ some undesirable features. I have one, and like it better than my g5 rev. 2 so far, and fits your needs perfectly.

Not entirely sure which version of G400 I have, its certainly a GREAT mouse the only thing I didn't like was the new anti-sweat coating which felt kind of slippery in my hands vs the MX518 glossy finish. To logitech's credit it does solve the sweat problem on the 518 that leaves nasty gunk on the mouse.

EDIT!: I have checked the PID number of the G400 and it is the OLDER version!

Maybe I should buy another one if it is much improved? They are fairly cheap.

No. That's wrong.

Only thing "different" was that the original G400 had Angle Snapping enabled like it's predecessor, the 518.

I don't want to be offensive, but you should figure out and research what kind of mouse you think will work for "you" other than relying on a list of what other people use. I mean, I can accurately depict the traits of every mouse listed, but that doesn't mean I can confidently recommend a product to fit "your" personal needs ^^

Maybe the TTesports Saphira will suit you, convenient shape, simple, nice grip, nice sensor.

You can unscrew your Mx518 top and swap directly with G400 = profit! thumb.gif
