The Samsung is better in terms of reliability. I actually just bought an 830, and im awaiting it to arrive, but I was in the same dilemma trying to choose the right one. I was between the Vertex 4, the M4 and the 830. The M4 was more expensive than the other two because they were on sale and the M4 was not. The 830 is slightly slower than the Vertex 4, but is much more reliable. When you look at endurance testing between the Vertex 4 and the 830, you will find that the Vertex 4 fails prematurely. Sean Webster, our resident SSD/HDD guru sent me a link to illustrate this fact. The Vertex 4 failed after nearly 400tb's of writing, where as the 830 failed after 4Pb of writes. The Vertex 4 is faster, but its not nearly as reliable.
Now when considering endurance testing, they are trying to break the drive. Pushing it to its limits to see when it will fail. I took this into account as well, but I figured I rarely see anything about Samsung drives failing, there are numerous threads about OCZ drives failing. Granted the Vertex 4 uses the new Everest 2 chipset, but its still not in the same league as the M4 and 830.
The Samsung is actually a bit less right now, considering the M4 is $99.99, and the real world difference between the two is minimal.
In terms of HDD's, I have seen way too many Seagate drives fail, my uncle has gone through 4, and I my work server has gone through 5 or 6 Sata drives, and 3 SAS drives so far. I have had very good luck with WD, but they tend to come at a premium. I have no idea what the drive models were that failed in either of the two scenarios I mentioned, and I have no idea how reliable the ST1000DM003 drive is. Sean im sure could help you out with that one.

when i go to newegg it says that 830 is 120$ i can buy it off amazon for 100$ tho

Ouch, thats quite the difference. I was honestly surprised when I was looking at monitors for you, because I couldn't find anything 120hz for less than $380, perhaps it was on sale or something the last time they updated their pricing.

Yeah its a tough bullet to take seeing as i wasn't even thinking about 120hz when i first started this build as you well know. But its ok i made room for it and i'm willing to go for it, i just hope i dont get any problems or dead pixels... i would lose my mind!

Yeah I could see that just from the way you have approached your build. You seem very meticulous, as am I. I am meticulous to the point where I purchased a monitor from Best Buy, just in case it had dead pixels. I dreaded the thought of waiting for the monitor to ship, and then seeing it either damaged from shipping or having some sort of defect.

In fact, the first monitor I got from Best Buy had terrible backlight bleed, and I took it back and exchanged it for a better monitor due to that. This is why I prefer B&M stores for certain items tongue.gif.

I have the water ENB, the basic 2K texture pack, re-textured everything, a bunch of lighting mods, shadowing mods, grass mods ( which turns weird lumps or flat pictures of what looks like grass into actual grass), got individual high res texture packs for each city. Alot of editing in the .inf files. Increased Ugrid to 11.

Edit: Scratch all that, new Nvidia driver screwed up my settings big time.

This is a fairly good deal because it comes bundled with 3D glasses.

I do have a question though. Can you honestly tell the difference between 120hz and 60hz? I know that some peoples eyes simply function differently than others, so I am asking a legitimate question.

The reason I ask is because it might be more beneficial to get a better looking screen than a faster one. For instance, a 23 inch IPS screen might be up your alley, or even get a catleap IPS 27 inch monitor with 2560x1440 resolution.

From what i understand you can, and if you have a card pushing over 60 fps they are wasted if you dont have one. I looked into that asus monitor pretty hard same with the BenQ and they both seemed not fo rme. The asus being a great monitor if you dont get dead pixels and have to deal with asus customer support. Also that monitor seems to be working properly for alot of people then 3-8months later a line of pixels die and the monitor is worthless.

The benQ on the other had seems pretty good but it has bad ghosting and colors. It has 2ms input lag which is very good

The samsung has 11-13 ms input lag which isnt noticeable, but has no ghosting at all and has very good colors. So they all have their trade offs i personally think the samsung works out better.

As far as those IPS monitors go, they have great color but high input lag which makes them less attractive for gaming from what i understand. IMO its not worth it as if i'm going to pay 300+ i want 120 hz if i dont want to play that i'll go with a cheap 60hz normal color 2ms inputlag monitor for like 180$.
