You can clear CMOS by checking the motherboard manual for where the CMOS jumpers are - OR you just take out the little lithium battery for a couple of minutes (when PC is shut down and power is cut!),

The problem with the game is the GTX 600 series adaptive power management which is a pain in the a**. Get the new 306.23 driver it should clear most problems. I had the exact same issue in COD Black Ops.
Go to Nvidia Control Panel ----> Manage 3D Settings ----> Power management mode to "prefer maximum performance" instead of "adaptive".

thank you! I was about to give up when I saw the jumper pins were broken off!

edit: they are covered up and there is a button on the back woot! thanks for that tip about the manual!

edit: OK now that my comp works again I tried power management and it made no difference. I even tried a lower res: 640:480 and that got me WORSE framerates

5-22% gpu usage is not what is supposed to happen
post #25 of 77
No it's not, if you disabled Vsync in a game it should run at almost 100% usage.

Try running a game and look at GPU-Z and see if it's running at PCI 1.0 or 2.0

pci-e 2.0 x16 @16 1.1
So it's only running at PCI-E 1.1? Cause thet could be the problem. Try reseat the card and see if that helps.

OK a just looked around, I think it's definitely because your card is only in PCI-E 1.1, it should be at 2.0.
Just to check, go back into GPU-Z, and next to the PCI-E 1.1 readout click the little question mark, and press "Start Render" and then look to see if the card changes to PCI-E 2.0

it switches between 2.0 and 1.1 in borderlands it is always at 2.0

good god! render test used 100% gpu! Now if I can get borderlands to do that, yes it changed to 2.0

It still goes down to 70% in render test some times.

"i5 3570K. I figured it out though. It wasn't anything to do with the video drivers. It was actually my G500 Mouse. The polling rate was is , by default, at 500. I had to set it down to 125. Only Crysis and Borderlands were giving me this issue. Now they both run flawlessly at highest settings possible smile.gif

I am going to try this and edit later with results, hope this works!

edit: meh, worth a try. Any suggestion will be tried at this point, hopefully I can play borderlands 2 tomorrow no problems
