Hybrid physics now impossible? [WORKING!]

Thread Starter
I just traded with a friend and got myself a 9800GT that I originally wanted to use for physx along with my 7870 for rendering but now as I am redoing all my research I am finding that nothing works.

The main reason I was doing this was that I wanted to turn on the Physx effects in Borderlands two and not have it completely screw my FPS.

Is there any way that I can run hybrid physx now?

I've never heard of being able to run an ATI card as main and using an Nvidia for Physx. I could be wrong, but I've never seen it.

EDIT: DID SOME RESEARCH. Apparently there was a hack for it, but I've read the 7xxx cards are not yet supported.

AMD for main and Nvidia for PhysX has been around for years now biggrin.gif

@OP, this thread is kinda old and a lot has changed since then but it should give you a fair idea on how to go about things - http://www.overclock.net/t/591872/how-to-run-physx-in-windows-7-with-ati-cards

A newer version of the hack was posted. I'll try looking it up.

Tried this with a GTX280 I picked up for 30 quid recently. I found I had to install the ATi drivers first then then older (258) Nvidia drivers then run the patch. From my research, it works fine in games where you actually turn PhysX on/off in the options itself (Mafia II for example) but I couldn't get it to work properly in games where the configuration is done before launching the game (Batman Arkham City) I havent played around with it too much though.

Mainly I was hoping to get all this for Borderlands 2 don't know how their settings work yet

I have been testing with fluid mark and no matter what I do it just goes to CPU even if the 9800GT is the only card in the system

a 9800GT isn't going to be a good physx card at all btw. You need to have at least a 560 Ti to be a good dedicated physx card that won't bottleneck the rest of your system

pick yourself up a GTS 450 card for physx mate. I used to use one when I had a 5850 (now running SLI'd 570s) and it was a gr8 card for physx. thumb.gif
