2 360 radiators on a 3820 CPU? - Page 2

two different flow rates of radiators. stay with a single style for best performance in cooling.
i dropped 5° in temps by using alphacool UT60 rads over my BIX rads. got to use slower
fans so it was quieter in operation. mixing the two is unbalanced, fast fans on one and
slow on the other.
if using the same fan, then one rad will have better output delta temps than the other.
isnt the goal to have both have the best temps?

What fans were you using on the BIC and what fans did you use on the UT60?

on the BIX was AP-15, AP-29, and Yate Loon D12SM-12
the YL had a distinct mech click, the AP-29 was just a lousd scream, and the Ap-15
was quiet for the most part, but seemed to "struggle" (cant put my finger on the
complex issue)

UT60 BGears (7v), swiftech helix 120 (pwm to follow), and Corsair SP120 perf and quiet.
BGears was great @ 12v but a nominal air noise, under-voled and very pleased. the
swiftechs (to me) were a much better solution than the AP15 and were strong. the
corsair perf were monsters unvolted decently, the quiets were quiet, but gave up too much
temperature-wise back for quiet vs temp (4°) over a undervolted perf.

I was thinking of getting the Corsair SP High Performance for the UT60s..

great choice... the lna that comes with it i think is 9.6v and you can use the molex for 7v..
9.6 was a smidge above my BGears in wind noise, but at 7v.. quiet but not a brezzy as the BGears.
but highly fashionable.. link

Still am not understanding, To run at 12v would I have to remove some wires?

your fan connector should be powering the fans through the yellow and black wires, thats 12-volt.

A four-pin molex with all-four wires (Pin 1: Yellow is +12v; Pin 2: Black is Ground; Pin 3: Black is Ground; Pin 4: Red +5v) connected from the power source will be running at 12v unless you got a cable, power distributor, and-or resistor between the two points reducing the voltage.

For ~5v it's pins/wires 3 & 4 (Pin 3: Black is Ground; Pin 4: Red +5v) and for ~7v it's pins/wires 1 & 4 (Pin 1: Yellow is +12v; Pin 4: Red +5v).
