GTX 650 SC 2GB vs GTX 560 ti Feedback/Help

Thread Starter
Ok so I'm planning on replacing my backup video card (gt210 512mb) because last year when I had to use it on my old 1680x1050 screen I cud only play sc2 on low, and now I've switched to a 1440p screen.

That all being said I was looking at the gtx 650 SC 2gb and thought the added vram wud help the card at my resolution, but how does it compare to the gtx 560 ti 1gb, they both go for around the same price, so what would be the better buy?

No competition really. GTX 560 Ti destroys the GTX 650 SC even if the 650 has more VRAM pool.
The GTX 650 doesn't have the bandwidth to utilize the 2 GB of VRAM.

If your totally stuck on just Nvidia offerings the GTX560 TI is your best bet. If your willing to go with AMD, this is about the same price point as the 560 TI 1GB version after MIR. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202004

The HD7850 will give similar performance to a GTX560ti/GTX570.

The 7850 when OC give better perf than 580/stock 7950.

I'm not buying a new card, going used, its only going to be my backup card, not interested in paying retail prices, so I'm looking to spend $130ish, maybe $150 if its a good deal .

Oh ok, I was unaware. I just figured that you were looking for a new card, you didnt really mention you were going used in the OP. A used HD7850 should still go for around that price range.

.

This is true, however it all depends on how well the card overclocks. Not all of them clock exceptionally well.

Think I'm just going to wait it out abit long the 500 series is dropping more and more, hell I might even be able to find a 580 soon for 160-170, I see them hanging around for $220ish, and not overly excited about amd cards right now..

You said your resolution is 1440P?

In that case both cards will suck, even though GTX560 Ti has 80 - 100 % more pixel fillrate and 50 - 70 % more memory bandwidth depending on models.

So have you bought the video card already?
