so what can i use the ports on my laptop for (random creative suggestions?)

im just bored at the moment and i was thinking what things i could use the ports for,

list:
Serial port
Firewire
4xUSB
Modem

i obviously know there intent but what things other things can i use them for that i might not have thought of? biggrin.gif (tried searching google to see what things people have done but i didnt find a whole lot)

Out of boredom I've build myself a few USB gadgets, two of them actually proved useful: an USB powered 120mm fan to cool the rear of the lappy during summer (@5V it spins at some 600RPM) and an USB powered LED lamp. The only thing to consider when talking about USB powered gadgets is the 5V voltage and 2.5W max power draw - pull more power and risk frying the port; other interfaces may have higher thresholds.

That can be solved if the USB port is actually powered. If it's like a USB/E-Sata port, then you should be fine. smile.gif
