Overclocking my gtx560TI?

Is this possible, how does it work, will post specs later if it is and people are willing to help tongue.gif

Download MSI Afterburner

Make sure you have some form of stability application, Afterburner should come with MSI Kombuster (Like Furmark), but it's best to test with real world loads. 3DMark Vantage or 3DMark 11 should do.

Open up Kombuster and set it going so it's stress testing your GPU. In Afterburner, slowly bump up the Core Clock (10 - 15MHz at a time should do) until you either; a) See artifacts appearing. b) Suffer from Graphics Driver crash (Usually means you need to bump up the voltage a little). c) Temps get too high.

Options for enabling voltage adjustments are in the settings for MSI Afterburner.

Once you're happy with your overclock, go play some games for a while to validate that the overclock is stable. smile.gif

I have 3dmark and afterburner..
I am running a 625w psu, and a standard case with 3 fans.. so no special cooling (if that matters) and a p8z77v-lx MB

How far do you think I could take it? and if i had to increase the voltage, what would i increase it to.. iv literally never overclocked before so I'm a bit stressed
post #4 of 22
First, try at stock volts, something like 950Mhz. Then, you can push it to 1000Mhz with some voltage increase.
To check stability I use Unigine Heaven and then Battlefield 3.

As reference, I do 950MHz at 0.987V; and 1000MHz at 1.006V

625w is more than enough, I only pull ~330w from the wall with everything a full load (i7 3770k 4.4GHz, 560Ti overclocked to 950MHz, few drives etc)

Voltage wise, I normally go up to 1100mV depending on ambient temps, at the voltage I can hit 950 - 990MHz core clock. Though I recommend for first time overclockers to try and stay below 1080mV, just to be sure.

As you can see, I don't have the best GPU, it's power hungry and heats up fast. For yours I would take it steady, and see what your MAX stable clocks are on stock voltage.

how come my core voltage is sitting on min? should i onlymove tghe memory clock? what about core and power limit?
You need to enable voltage adjustment and voltage monitoring in the settings, button is at the bottom of Afterburner.

If I recall correctly, Memory overclocking on the 560Ti's is very limited. I would leave that as is.

Power limit only works on the 6xx series cards.

Just bump up the core clock and test, keep doing that until it starts becoming unstable, at that point move the slider back down to the last core clock setting and test more. smile.gif

ok im just afraid of frying my card lol, ill try ur 950 settings first then try the 1000 settings.. would this be as far as i want to push it? also, whats the safe temp

also.. should i turn on force constant voltage?
Only mis-treating the card will lead to frying it. Not general overclocking. thumb.gif

Before touching voltages, check how high you can actually overclock before it fails (Driver crash or artefacts appearing). These cards can handle up to 104*c, I've never seen mine go over 100 before, even with voltages maxed out tongue.gif

Max safe temps I would say for 24/7 would be mid to high 80's. Don't worry, these cards are designed to take the heat. smile.gif

Leave Force Constant Voltage disabled, it can cause stability issues.

I'd try to keep the GPU temp and the VRM temp under 75ÂșC. You can modify the fan profile to get better temps.
See how much you can get with 1.050V
