To check stability I use Unigine Heaven and then Battlefield 3.
As reference, I do 950MHz at 0.987V; and 1000MHz at 1.006V

what do you mean 1.006v? mine are in the thousands? and default is set at 1012?

I've boosted my card to 899 mhz, I don't want to push it any more because if it crashes, I have no idea what to do, can this damage my card, how would I fix it?

After playing gw2 for 30 minutes-1 hour, my Gfx card maxed at 64 degrees, I would really like to push this to 1ghz, or as high as I can before going above 80

1.006V = 1006mV thumb.gif

You won't damage the card with that temps, 64ºC is a very good temp.
The crashes also don't damage the card... So push it until it crashes, and when it happens, increase the voltage to stabilize it.
It's really easy wink.gif

ok sorry im just a bit worried thats all, don't really have the spair $$ to buy a new card, and mines sitting on 1012 stock, how is urs so low? haha
if it crashes what happens?

Each GPU has a different stock voltage, but more or less all are similar.

When you OC is not stable the nvidia driver will crash and maybe you'll need to restart the PC, nothing to worry.
You won't fry the card unless you have extremely high voltage and high temps.

Try 1000MHz at 1050mV and write the results thumb.gif

ok i put it at 1000mhz and 1050mv, opened up guild wars and was playing for 10 seconds or so, black screen.. but then it went back fine, im assuming this was a driver crash but then they recovered? I was also getting screen tearing

I then tried boosting it to 1060 (it auto'd to 1062) and the driver didn't crash, I am still receiving small amounts of tearing

I then boosted it to 1070 (it auto'd to 1075) and all normal play game tearing is gone, if I look down at the ground and run (in gw2) I get tearing on the ground.

I will leave it as is for tonight as I have to go to bed, should I increase the voltages any more or am I entering the danger zone? lol

I think the absolut maximum is 1150mV.

The tearing occurs when the FPS are superior to 60 (if your monitor is 60Hz).

What are yours FPS? Try to enable Vsync, to lock them to 60.

Leave it at 1062mV or a little more and play for some hours to see if it is totally stable.

I didn't get much time to play around with it last night so I will do some testing last night, I wasn't even hitting 70 degrees, I dont want to run a benchmark because then I cant see msi afterburn and I wont be able to monitor the temp of the card.. but after a few hours on gw2, not even hitting 70 degrees, does this mean I can push my card even further?

Yes, you can push it more, but also check the VRM temp because with the added voltage it starts to be hot.
Maybe you can reach 1025MHz with a little more voltage.

whats VRM temp? haha

I have it stable at 1ghz, 1087 voltage, I was crashing at 1062 and 1075, Im maxed at 67temps after 30 minutes of gw2 play, then dropped to 65

Would it be worth pushing any more? or just keep as is..
